In the vast river of history, every great idea and every spark of revolution has its own soil. For Li Dazhao, that piece of soil is Lulong Middle School.
Li Dazhao, a pioneer of Chinese communism and the leader of the New Culture Movement, was closely linked to his years of study at Lulong Middle School.
In 1905, at the age of 16, Li Dazhao was admitted to Yongpingfu Middle School, located in present-day Lulong County, Hebei Province, with excellent grades. This was an important turning point in his life and an important period of his intellectual enlightenment. Here, he began to come into contact with the advanced ideas of Kang Youwei, Liang Qichao and others, read a large number of new books and publications, his horizons began to broaden, and his thinking began to have new changes.
During his years in Lulong Middle School, Li Dazhao was hungry and thirsty for absorbing the nutrition of knowledge. On the campus of Lulong Middle School, Li Dazhao's name and his deeds will always be remembered. Every year, during the freshman season, the school organizes students to visit the Li Dazhao Memorial Hall, so that they can learn about the glorious history of this great man and inherit his spirit.
