Hannibal was a Cadalian general in ancient Rome, and he was a general of Carthage. Hannibal was known worldwide for his military prowess and constant threat to Rome.
Hannibal was born in 247 BC, the son of the Carthaginian general Hamilkar Barka. During his career, Hannibal led the Carthaginian army against the Roman Republic, demonstrating extraordinary strategic and tactical talent.
Most famously, he led an army through the Alps to attack Roman territory. He fought a series of campaigns between 218 BC and 203 BC, including the Battle of Trebia, the Battle of Trasimenus, and the Battle of Cannae, among others. Despite a series of victories on the battlefield, he was ultimately unable to capture the city of Rome and was eventually defeated by the Roman general Curipio.
Hannibal's strategic and tactical talents are widely acclaimed, and he is considered one of the greatest generals of antiquity. His campaigns and military strategies are still studied and borrowed today. Hannibal's story has also been adapted into many literary works and films, becoming one of the most talked-about figures in history.
