In the first 10 months of the year, the rail sector achieved impressive results, with a cumulative total of nearly 3.3 billion passengers, an increase of 119% compared to the same period last year. This figure is a record high, demonstrating the strong attractiveness of China's railway passenger transport and the increasing level of service.
During this period, the number of single-day railway tickets sold and passengers dispatched by the national railways reached a record high. The opening of a number of new high-speed rail lines, such as Guinan, Fuxia, Guangshan, Shanghai-Nanjing Yanjiang, etc., has not only added more than 1,200 kilometers of high-speed rail operating mileage, but also provided more capacity supply for the railway sector to meet the growing demand for travel.
In order to optimize the travel experience of passengers, the railway department has carefully planned the operation of passenger cars and increased the supply of passenger capacity during peak hours. These measures have effectively improved the efficiency and comfort of rail transportation, making it easier and more comfortable for passengers to reach their destinations during their travels.
During the National Day holiday, in order to meet the travel needs of a large number of passengers, the national railway department opened a total of 1,411 passenger trains. The operation of these passenger trains has brought the average number of passenger trains arranged to run per day to 11,895, and the average number of passengers sent per day has reached 16.02 million. This figure represents a 22% increase from the same period in 2019 and peaked at 19.32 million daily riders on some peak days.
At the same time, the China-Laos Railway and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Rail sent 9060,000 and 161170,000 cross-border passengers. These data show that the convenience and efficiency of the high-speed rail further attract cross-border passengers, providing more convenient contact and communication channels for countries and regions along the China-Laos Railway and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Railway.
The continuous growth of railway passenger transport not only reflects the development speed and strength of China's railways, but also reflects the high recognition and trust of the majority of passengers in railway transportation. With the continuous efforts and innovations of the railway sector, we have reason to believe that rail travel will be more convenient, comfortable and diversified in the future.
