The legend of the tiger.
According to legend, in ancient times, the top of the cactus and the top of the hidden screen of Wuyi Mountain towered into the clouds, and the peak was steep and the ridge was high, covering the blue sky. Strange rocks are piled up like tigers, and pine cliffs are like flying kites. The crows have nowhere to roost, and it is difficult for walkers to move forward. Dozens of tigers roamed this steep ridge at the same time, especially the spotted tigress, which was extremely ferocious. This spotted tigress is no ordinary thing, it is a tiger spirit that lives in the tiger roaring cave south of Lingxiao Peak.
One day, a strange man came to the village, who was armed with a steel fork and a bow and arrows, claiming that he was good at fighting tigers and could relieve people of tiger trouble. At sunset, the man went up the mountain alone in search of the tiger, and the villagers were worried about him. But he returned peacefully in the morning. The strange thing is that since the man entered the village, there have been no tigers hurting people. Late one night, the man suddenly felt good and went up the mountain with a canvas bag on his back. The villagers held knives and sticks, followed the man, lurking beside the boulder of Xianzhao Peak, waiting for the appearance of the evil tiger. After arranging the location of the villagers, the man climbed to the top of the boulder by himself, sat cross-legged, and closed his eyes to recuperate.
At two o'clock, a gust of cold wind blew from the rocks of the northern corridor, and the evil tiger, which had been hungry for many days, could not hold it back, and roared and invaded, breaking the mountains and rivers, and scattering birds and beasts. Hanyou unzipped the canvas bag, shook it lightly in the wind, and shouted loudly:"Evil animal, can it run to **?"The villagers noticed that a dozen tiger roars were getting closer and closer, and hurriedly brandished their knives and sticks. Han Yu pointed to the sack full of eyes and smiled"Don't panic, in addition to the spotted tigress, there are other vicious tigers in the sack. "The villagers anxiously asked east and west, and Han Zi said"Don't worry, I have my own way to get rid of them. "As soon as the man's voice fell, he disappeared without a trace. The villagers looked up and saw Nanhai Guanyin appear in the clouds, holding a bottle of wicker in his hand. It turned out that this person was Guanyin, and the villagers knelt down one after another.
In order to remember the kindness of Guanyin, people later carved it on the rock where Guanyin killed the evil tiger"Fuhu"Two words, to show posterity. This story has become one of the most revered classic stories by people, and it is precisely because of this story that the compassion and strength of Nanhai Guanyin are deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

Buddhist culture has had a profound and wide-ranging impact on the entire world. Among the Buddhist bodhisattvas, the most famous is"Respectable"The Bodhisattva of Guanyin. Guanyin"The word is a transliteration of the Sanskrit word in ancient India, transliterated as"Apollo Gidosh Polo"。

When sentient beings encounter difficulties and ask Guanyin Bodhisattva for help, Guanyin Bodhisattva can immediately"See"her voice and came to her aid. Guanyin"Hence the name.
Later, in order to avoid the ridicule of Li Shimin, Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, it was still used"Guanyin"Abbreviation. The inheritance and openness of Guanyin has become a splendid chapter in the spread of Buddhist culture, enriching the historical heritage of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.
