After leaving the founding of the country, Xuanzang came to the ancient place of Great Xia, and encountered a human tragedy here.
And the occurrence of this tragedy also had a certain impact on Xuanzang's westward journey. So, what's going on?
Xuanzang continued to rush to India, and after passing through four or five small countries, he walked more than 300 miles southwest and arrived at the country of Kashana. This country has always existed, that is, the historical country recorded in the Chinese historical books, and the ancestral home of many people with surnames among the Han people should be here.
Xuanzang did not leave a very rich record here, because the city was not fully built at that time, Xuanzang hurriedly passed through, entered the western part of the Pamir Plateau, crossed the mountains from the mountains, and reached the Iron Gate.
The Iron Gate was a fortress of the Western Turks, which was just south of present-day Uzbekistan and was the main transportation route from ancient Central Asia to South Asia.
Out of the iron gate, Xuanzang arrived at the country of Luo.
At that time, this place was a place with the highest concentration of cultural exchanges, and it was also a region where Eastern and Western cultures intersected.
But when Xuanzang arrived here, it was already no longer pompous, Great Xia was no longer strong, and this place within a radius of thousands of miles was ** into dozens of countries, among which small countries and small city-states were subject to the Turks.
Xuanzang arrived in one of these dozens of countries, a small country, the living country, which is the city of Kundu in present-day Afghanistan, and suffered a tragedy here.
Xuanzang met the eldest son of Yehu Khan in the living country, this eldest son is called Yu Du, and he became "Yu Du She" in the historical books. "Set" is an official name, and the meaning of the commander of the army of other departments is that the commander of the tribe is called "set", which can be said to be the son of the old man.
Xuanzang got along very happily with that Ye Hu Khan, and there should be those ** sent by Ye Hu Khan who were fluent in the Chinese languages of the Western Regions, which was originally a very happy thing.
What's even happier is that this Lu Dushe is still the brother-in-law of King Gaochang, so he is also related to Xuanzang, because Xuanzang recognized King Gaochang as his brother-in-law, and Xuanzang is also his brother-in-law.
In the long journey full of hardships and dangers, is there anything more comforting and joyful than this? The problem is that when Xuanzang arrived, Yu Dushe's wife, that is, the sister of King Gaochang, had just died, and when Xuanzang gave King Gaochang's letter to Yu Dushe, Yu Du set was sad and cried.
It seems that the relationship between this Lu Du and his wife is very good.
Yu Dushe was seriously ill at that time, probably because his wife had just passed away, and he was in a sad mood, and he happened to be seriously ill again, so he said to Xuanzang:
Master, you have come all the way from Gaochang, I see that your eyes are bright, and your mood is much better, please stop here for a while, if I am a little better, I will personally send you to the Brahman country. ”
What a wonderful thing that is! Because Yu Du Sheh is not an ordinary person, let's put aside that he is the king of the living country, he is still the eldest son of Yehu Khan, if he is personally sent to India, Xuanzang's journey will be much less troublesome, and the road to the west to seek the Dharma will be much smoother.
At this time, it seems that God also intends to help Xuanzang, and a Buddhist monk came from India to set up a mantra for Xuanzang.
However, after Yu Dushe's health improved, he did not immediately fulfill his promise to Xuanzang and personally sent him to Duzang, but was busy doing another thing. What's going on? remarried, and married a lady much younger than him.
He has had at least three marriages.
For the first time, I didn't know who the lady was, but I left a son, who had grown up by this time. The second marriage was with Princess Gaochang, and he also left a son, who was still young. The third time is this little lady.
No one expected that it was this marriage that brought death to Yu Du She, and the eldest son colluded with the little lady and poisoned Yu Du Shi to death.
After Yu Du was poisoned, the eldest son was established and married a little lady. Because at that time, many western ethnic groups had the custom of accepting step-marriages, that is, the father died to receive the stepmother, and the brother died to take the eldest sister-in-law, which is not surprising.
In this case, the promise of sending Xuanzang to India cannot be fulfilled. In desperation, Xuanzang could only continue to stay in the living country.
During his stay, Xuanzang did not gain nothing, he met a high monk called the Bodhidharma Sangha, he had studied in India, and had a very high reputation in the west of the Green Ridge.
Xuanzang never let go of any opportunity to learn Xi along the way, but considering that the character and way of doing things of these Hu monks are difficult to figure out, he asked someone to find out first about those classics and doctrines that the Dharma Sangha is proficient in.
Who knew that this inquiry first annoyed the many ** of the Bodhidharma Sangha: You Xuanzang didn't come directly to ask for advice, but tossed and turned to inquire about these things!
The Bodhidharma Sangha is quite magnanimous, after all, it is a generation of grandmaster-like figures, and his answer is full of confidence: "I will do my best to ask at will." The meaning of this is very clear, I can understand and explain all kinds of Buddhist doctrines and scriptures, please feel free to ask.
Xuanzang was kind-hearted, he knew that the Dharma Sangha did not practice Xi Mahayana, so he asked questions with Hinayana scriptures, but the other party's answers and explanations were not very good, and there were many flaws. After the failure of the debate, the Dharma Sangha was convinced, and it was also very rare, not only to see Xuanzang and rejoice, but also to make a name for Xuanzang everywhere, saying that he was better than himself.
On the way to the west to seek the Dharma, Xuanzang experienced several debates with senior monks, but he never solved many of his puzzles in Buddhism. It seems that only in India, the birthplace of Buddhism, can one seek the highest and most complete Dharma.
But to go to India, you have to get the help of the king. When Xuanzang asked for the new king of the living country, a suggestion of the new king made Xuanzang not immediately rush to India, which he longed for, why is this?
Tomorrow's update, into India.
