When Xuanzang was studying in Sichuan, one day he saw a patient covered in sores, lying stiff on the side of the road, dying.

So, Xuanzang was compassionate and carried him to the temple, helped him heal, and took care of him. This patient knew the "Heart Sutra", and after he recovered from his illness, he taught this "Heart Sutra" to Xuanzang.

Unexpectedly, it was this "Heart Sutra" that played a huge role in Xuanzang's westward journey and helped him get rid of his spiritual fear.

After Xuanzang entered the Mohe Yanqi Desert, although there were no guards here, and it was impossible for anyone to arrest Xuanzang, this environment was even more sinister.

According to historical records, after walking for more than 100 miles, Xuanzang suddenly found that he was lost.

It's normal to get lost in the desert, because there is no reference along the way, only to look up at the stars and rely on the sky for food.

The climate of the desert is changeable, and it is not uncommon to see the stars in the sky. Add to this the fact that the desert landscape is unpredictable, and a gust of wind can turn the original sand dunes into flat ground, or turn a potholed valley into a sand dune tens of meters high.

Therefore, after Xuanzang got lost here, he was very impatient.

However, misfortune did not come alone, and just as he was in a hurry and was about to untie the skin from his horse to drink, he accidentally knocked over the whole skin.

As you can imagine, the water in the skin must have been lost faster than the mercury in the arid desert, and it was immediately sucked dry by the sand.

With all these situations combined, Xuanzang only has one way to live, and that is to "return the same way". He could only return to Sifeng, which was more than a hundred miles away from here, and then go to Wang Bolong for help. If the Buddha blesses everything well and there are no more surprises, it is a day, a night or a two-day journey.

It's better to walk back than to die of thirst in the desert.

At this time, Xuanzang did violate his oath of "never moving eastward to take a step forward" and decided to go east.

However, Xuanzang's devotion to Buddhism is not comparable to ordinary people after all, and after he walked more than ten miles to the east, he regretted it, he thought of the oath he had made, and he kept asking himself: "Why did I come here?"”

Thinking about it, the idea of fulfilling his vow gradually took over, and he made up his mind again: he would rather die in the west than live in the east!

So, after Xuanzang turned back more than ten miles to the east, he turned the horse's head and continued to walk resolutely to the west.

You know, if you want to continue to walk deep in the desert when you can't find a water source and get lost, you are basically entrusting your life to God.

Xuanzang has put life and death aside at this moment, and is ready to overcome this difficulty with his sincerity, in case of failure, he will seek benevolence and have no complaints.

When monks encounter suffering, they often chant the name of Guanyin, and Xuanzang is certainly no exception.

At that time, the surroundings were full of yellow quicksand as far as the eye could see, and there were many people and birds.

What's even more terrifying is that there are often sandstorms during the day, and at this time, the yellow sand swept by the wind will fly all over the sky like rain, making it impossible to breathe.

And at night, in the dark desert, there seem to be many demons and monsters holding fires and lighting lights, and these lights are as brilliant as the starry sky in the morning. The "fire" here should be phosphorus fire, which is the phenomenon that after the death of a person or animal, the corpse decomposes into phosphine and burns spontaneously.

However, Xuanzang, who was alone in such a terrifying and harsh environment, did not have a sense of fear in his heart, and he may have clearly known that he was completely "in a desperate situation".

At this time, Xuanzang had at least four days and five nights of unfinished water, and he felt that his life was about to end. Extremely tired and unable to walk anymore, he could only lie down in the sand and silently recite the name of Guanyin ...... to help the suffering

Xuanzang's mood is extremely complicated, on the one hand, he feels that life is gradually moving away from him, and on the other hand, the desire to survive makes him unable to give up completely.

So, piously, he made a special proclamation to the Bodhisattva:

Xuanzang, I don't want to seek fame in this trip, let alone consider the interests of treasures, I just want to pursue the supreme Dharma, Bodhisattva, you should save the suffering and protect all sentient beings, I am so difficult and difficult, don't you know the Bodhisattva?”

This begging speech is very special because it implies accusations against the Bodhisattva and doubts about the Bodhisattva's mana. On the surface, it seems to be very sad, but in fact, this is the attitude of Xuanzang as a devout Buddhist: he has completely surrendered himself to the Buddha and the Bodhisattva.

Xuanzang kept telling the Bodhisattva over and over again.

By the night of the fifth day, the climate had changed. The steamer-like weather in the desert suddenly took a turn for the better, blowing a cool breeze that not only refreshed people, but also improved their tired spirits.

At that time, Xuanzang was already suffering from a severe lack of water, and his eyes could barely see anything. But this cool breeze blew on his body, making him feel cool and happy, like a cold ice, and his eyesight gradually recovered.

And the old horse who had been following him for a long time and had been tested by harsh circumstances, who had been lying next to him dying, actually stood up at this time.

At this moment, Xuanzang, who was bathed in the cool breeze, felt that he could finally sleep quietly for a while. While he was sleeping soundly, he had a dream ......
