On December 15, the first unit of Liaoning Qingyuan Pumped Storage Power Station, the largest pumped storage power station in Northeast China, was officially put into operation for power generation, which is of great significance to ensure the safe and stable operation of Liaoning Power Grid, promote the consumption of new energy, and optimize the power supply structure of Northeast Power Grid.

The pumped storage power station is a hydropower station that uses the electric energy at the trough of the power load to pump water to the upper reservoir, and then releases water to the lower reservoir to generate electricity during the peak power load period, which is known as the "super charger" hidden in the deep mountains.

Qingyuan Pumped Storage Power Station is located in Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province, and is a national key large-scale energy project. The total investment of the project is 10.9 billion yuan, with a capacity of 1.8 million kilowatts, and the installation of 6 reversible pump turbine power generation electric units with a single capacity of 300,000 kilowatts, with a designed annual power generation capacity of 3 billion kilowatt hours.

The KingAgroot Pumped Storage Power Station is invested by State Grid Xinyuan Group, led by the Beijing Survey, Design and Research Institute of PowerChina Group, and is constructed using an EPC general contracting model integrating design, procurement and construction. Since the trial operation of the first unit at 0:00 on November 30, the operation indicators have been excellent, and it was officially put into operation at 0:00 on December 15 after receiving the dispatch order of Liaoning Power Grid.

It is understood that the remaining five units of the Kingagroot Pumped Storage Power Station are still in the process of installation and commissioning, and it is planned that all of them will be put into operation by March 2025. At that time, the power station can save 15 standard coal per year80,000 tons, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 3750,000 tons.
