Original title: The International Training Conference on Peanut Quality Evaluation and Processing and Utilization Technology was held in Nigeria
Explore the "going out" of agricultural science and technology and create a new model of China-Africa cooperation
This newspaper (reporter Wang Wei).Recently, Wang Qiang, academician of the International Academy of Food Sciences and researcher of the Institute of Agricultural Products Processing of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, led the backbone of the project team to Nigeria to carry out on-site exchanges and promotion on the construction of the "China-Africa Peanut Quality Evaluation and Processing and Utilization Cooperative Research Center (KY202201003)" of the Ministry of Science and Technology's assistance project to developing countries, and held an international training conference on peanut quality evaluation and processing and utilization technology. The two-year project is jointly undertaken by the Institute of Agricultural Products Processing of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the China-Africa Green Agriculture Development Research Center, and the Nigerian Agricultural Research Council, and is chaired by Wang Qiang. The implementation of the project aims to build a theoretical system, technology, method and standard for the processing characteristics and quality evaluation of African peanut raw materials, screen special varieties for processing, overcome the key technologies of deep processing and quality improvement and efficiency improvement of African peanuts, and jointly promote the healthy development of African peanut production industry.
The "China-Africa Peanut Quality Evaluation, Processing and Utilization Cooperative Research Center" was inaugurated
During the event, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Cui Jianchun had a discussion with the project team. Wang Qiang introduced the basic situation of the Ministry of Science and Technology's assistance projects to developing countries, and put forward opinions on how to promote the development of Nigeria's soybean, peanut and other oilseed industries based on China's agricultural advantages in the future, and expand exchanges between the two countries.
Cui Jianchun pointed out that the development of agricultural projects in Nigeria is conducive to enhancing the international influence of China's agricultural science and technology. It is hoped that the project team will continue to promote the high-quality development of Nigeria's peanut production industry based on this project, and the embassy will also provide necessary support and assistance. Wang Yingqi, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, and Shi Zhida, Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, participated in the discussion.
The China-Africa Peanut Quality Evaluation, Processing and Utilization Cooperative Research Center was officially unveiled in CGCOC Agricultural High-tech Abuja Industrial Park. It is understood that Nigeria's annual peanut production is nearly 3.9 million tons, ranking first in the world.
Third, Africa's first, the peanut production industry is one of the leading industries of Nigerian agriculture, but there are still outstanding problems such as mixed peanut varieties, backward planting technology, poor processing equipment, and lack of deep processing technology. In view of this, the Nigerian Agricultural Research Council put forward the urgent need to jointly establish a "China-Africa Joint Research Center for Peanut Quality Evaluation, Processing and Utilization".
At the unveiling ceremony, Wang Qiang introduced the basic situation and project background of the Institute of Agricultural Products Processing of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Western Agricultural Research Center and the team. He said that through the construction of the cooperative research center, it will further strengthen cooperation with Nigeria's agriculture-related departments, carry out technical guidance, training and exchanges in an orderly manner, and provide strong support for the development of the African peanut production industry. Based on the center, the team will continue to carry out practical cooperation with the China-Africa Green Agriculture Development Research Center and the Nigerian Agricultural Research Council, actively explore the "going out" of agricultural science and technology, promote the new path of innovation and development of the African peanut production industry, and create a new model of China-Africa agricultural cooperation.
More than 50 trainees attended the unveiling ceremony and participated in the training, including Shi Zhida and Dou Chaolin, Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, Belle Zaki Abubakar, Director of the Development Bureau of the Nigerian Agricultural Research Council, Che Yuan, Assistant General Manager of CGCOC Nigeria, Wang Yun, Deputy General Manager of CGCOC Agricultural Development, and Nigerian peanut production industry and agriculture-related management, scientific research, demonstration and promotion and large planters.
During the training, the project team members, researcher Shi Aimin and associate researcher Jiao Bo of the Institute of Agricultural Products Processing of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, respectively gave lectures on "peanut raw material processing suitability evaluation technology" and "peanut intensive processing and comprehensive utilization technology", and demonstrated the "portable high-throughput peanut quality speed tester" and "peanut high-efficiency oil production technology". The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the future development of the peanut production industry in Nigeria. The trainees expressed their gratitude to the project team for their advanced technology guidance and cutting-edge science and technology trends, and hoped to further strengthen their ties and learn more about China's advanced agricultural science and technology in the future.
During the event, the project team solidly promoted the project construction tasks, inspected the CGCOC Agricultural High-tech Abuja Industrial Park on site, learned in detail about the development status of Nigeria's peanut production industry, investigated the planting, quality characteristics and raw material base construction of peanut processing varieties in the industrial park, and discussed and laid out the planting of different peanut varieties, quality evaluation, selection of special varieties for processing and construction of demonstration bases.
