The ranking of global enterprise R&D investment has been released, and Huawei has fallen out of the top three, which is shocking news!
We've all heard the saying:"Science and technology are the primary productive forces!"Its core meaning is that science and technology are the key to promoting the development of national strength, and it is also the core productive force. In modern society, whoever masters the most powerful technology will become the most powerful country in the world. Over the past 30 years, China has been able to achieve rapid development because we have mastered advanced scientific and technological means. If we only rely on traditional farming methods, then we may still be struggling to make ends meet, let alone become the second largest country in the global economy.
However, there is also a reality that we should recognize. Over the past 30 years, most of the technological tools at China's disposal have actually come from the West. We don't innovate independently.
This is dangerous, and once the West no longer provides us with advanced technology, then our development will come to a standstill.
Huawei is a good example of this. Huawei's development has been curtailed due to chip sanctions. Although it has recently barely escaped some of its limitations, its overall development has been affected. This reminds us once again that improving our own scientific and technological strength is the only way to ensure China's sustainable and long-term development, and the only way to do this is to increase investment and strengthen independent innovation. Regrettably, many domestic enterprises lack this awareness.
Recently, the 2022 global enterprise R&D investment ranking list was released, and the top three are Google, Meta (formerly Facebook) and Microsoft, with Apple ranking fourth and Huawei ranking fifth.
Huawei's R&D investment was once among the top three, but due to various factors, including sanctions, Huawei's overall revenue declined, and accordingly, R&D investment began to decrease. This is not a good sign, because over time, competitors will become stronger and stronger, market share will continue to increase, Huawei's market influence will also weaken, and revenue and R&D investment will continue to decrease accordingly. If it can't get out of the predicament as soon as possible, Huawei will soon be left behind by other competitors.
Of course, this is something to worry about in the long term, and there is no need to worry too much in the short term. Over the past decade, Huawei has spent nearly one trillion yuan on R&D, and its R&D results have begun to turn into revenue. Therefore, R&D investment is relatively guaranteed in the short term, and Huawei does not have to worry about revenue. To tell you the truth, unlike what I thought, I think it's this summary table that is more troublesome!
Let's take a look at the top 10 first, the only one on the list is Huawei, and the rest are American companies. Only one Tencent has been added to the top 20, while Ali is further down the ranking, only in the 22nd place.
In the list of the world's top 20 companies in terms of R&D investment, only Huawei and Tencent are Chinese companies. I don't know what you guys think, but I think it's ridiculous and very dangerous.
As mentioned earlier, technology is the primary productive force, and the only way to improve our technological capabilities is to invest in research and development. In the face of the current restrictions of the West, if we want to get out of the predicament, we must improve our own scientific and technological level. But now it seems that American companies are far ahead in R&D investment, and only domestic companies can compete with Huawei, Tencent and Alibaba.
But with these three companies alone, how do we compete with companies in other countries?
All along, I thought that the situation was clear, and the West would not provide us with the opportunity to rise, let alone help us rise. If we want to develop, we can only rely on ourselves, and we can only look for opportunities to break through in the lockdown. But when I look at the R&D investment of Chinese companies, I feel lost. Can we really succeed if we only rely on one or two companies?
Although Huawei is very powerful, the Lone Ranger cannot fight the wolves! Now all the people who are staring at us outside are some lion and tiger beasts, and even giant dragons. In this case, if we don't want to spend a lot of money on R&D, if we don't have the determination to break the boat, how can we win?
