The 2023 Seminar for the Dean of Chinese Departments in Thai Universities was successfully held

Bangkok, December 2 (People's Daily News) -- On December 1, the seminar for the heads of Chinese departments of Thai universities on "Exploring the Frontiers of Chinese Education and Promoting the Practice and Development of Chinese Education" co-sponsored by the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University and the Department of Chinese at the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University was held at the Chinese Cultural Activity Center of the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University. More than 60 people attended the seminar, including Feng Junying, Education Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand, Balica, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, Paz Lotilrapong, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of Thailand, 38 Chinese department heads or school representatives from 16 universities in Thailand, 4 report experts, and all Chinese and Thai teachers of the Confucius Institute at Chu University. A small textbook exhibition was held outside the seminar venue, displaying Chinese textbooks from Peking University Press, Beijing Language and Culture University Press, and Jiajia Chinese Publishing House.

The opening ceremony and the morning seminar were moderated by Mr. Chen Zihong, a local Thai teacher at the Confucius Institute at Chu University. Feng Junying, Education Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand, and Baritsa, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Feng Junying expressed his gratitude to people from all walks of life who have paid attention to and supported the development of Chinese education in Thailand, and hoped that this seminar would provide useful help to the international education of Thai universities. Balica extended a warm welcome to all the guests, and sincerely hoped that through this seminar, new ideas and new methods could be provided for the construction and development of Chinese in Thailand, so as to achieve the sustainable and rapid development of Chinese education in Thailand.

Jiang Liping, Vice Dean of the Institute of International Chinese Education, Beijing Language and Culture University, delivered a keynote speech on the topic of "Discipline Construction and Exploration of Special-purpose Chinese Education in the New Situation", focusing on the theme of "Chinese+", focusing on the compilation and development of Chinese teaching materials in China and the world, and emphasizing the importance of the construction of "Chinese + Vocational Skills" teaching resources and the construction of special-purpose Chinese education disciplines.

Associate Professor Paz Lotilrapong gave a speech on the theme of "Chinese Education Policy and the Development of Chinese Education in Universities", focusing on the main development goals of the Ministry of Higher Education of Thailand and the current situation of higher Chinese education in Thailand.

The teachers present actively asked questions about the content of the report and communicated with the keynote speakers. Finally, on behalf of the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University and the Department of Chinese at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Chulalongkorn University, Dean Han Shenglong launched an initiative on the establishment of the Thai Higher Education Cooperation and Development Alliance for Chinese Education, which was warmly seconded by the representatives of the participating universities.

At the closing ceremony of the seminar, Dean Han Shenglong said that the seminar aims to promote the exchange and cooperation of Chinese education among Thai universities, inject new ideas and stimulate new vitality into the development of Chinese discipline in Thailand, so as to promote the sustainable and rapid development of Chinese professional education in Thailand.
