Yuquan Mountain, located in Xishan, Haidian District, Beijing, is picturesque and has a long history. As early as the Liaojin period, it became a summer resort and was famous for its clear spring water. In the early spring of 1963, five important leaders of the People's Republic of China took a precious group photo here. Deng Gong stood on the left, followed by Mr. Chen who was holding a cane, and the leader standing in the center was the little-known Comrade Peng Zhen. Peng Zhen participated in the revolution when he was young and fought for the revolutionary cause all his life. He was born in a poor peasant family in Shanxi at the beginning of the last century, his original surname was Fu, and he changed his name many times because of his underground work, until 1937, when he was named "Peng Zhen".
As a child, due to the poverty of his family, he worked with his parents during the day and spun and weave at night. It wasn't until the age of 14 that he was able to enter a private school, and although he started late, he achieved great results. Two years later, he was admitted to an excellent high school, and then he was admitted to Shanxi Provincial No. 1 Middle School. As one of the founders of the party organization in Shanxi, Peng Zhen's revolutionary activities in his early years were almost always active in the land of the Sanjin Dynasty, he founded workers' night schools, established trade unions, and mobilized the masses to participate in the patriotic, anti-imperialist and anti-feudal movement. After the Great Revolution, he left Shanxi and became one of the main leaders of our party in the northern region at that time.
Peng Zhen's revolutionary career was full of ups and downs, and in 1929 he was betrayed by a traitor, but even though he was imprisoned and faced with torture by the enemy, he still adhered to the integrity of the Communist Party and continued to fight against the enemy. In 1935, after six years of suffering, he was released and went to Tianjin to lead the anti-Japanese movement. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he stayed behind enemy lines to carry out guerrilla warfare, and devoted himself to the creation of anti-Japanese base areas, making important contributions to the final victory of the Anti-Japanese War. In 1941, Peng Zhen went to Yan'an to report to his work and was highly appreciated.
During the Yan'an period, Peng Zhen filled the vacancy of administrative cadres, so he chose to stay there and work, and successively served as the vice president of the ** Party School and the head of the Central Organization Department. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he was transferred to the Northeast to take charge of the leadership of the Northeast Bureau, laying a solid foundation for the liberation of the region. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Peng Zhen has been holding a number of important leadership positions in New China, he has been in charge of Beijing for 17 years, and is committed to building the capital into a modern city where the people can live and work in peace and contentment, sparing no effort and making great contributions. Although he was greatly shocked during turbulent times, he never gave up on his beliefs.
After his comeback, he served as the secretary of the ** Political and Legal Committee, and has been struggling on the political and legal front of my country, and has made outstanding contributions to the construction of the rule of law in my country. In 1987, Peng Zhen, who was 85 years old, retired from his post. After his retirement, he still cared about the development of the country and the lives of the people, and at the same time practiced the excellent character of "living and learning until he was old", insisting on learning foreign languages, even at the age of 92. Learning a foreign language can be imagined how difficult it is, and every time he learns English, Peng Lao has to prepare reading glasses, hearing aids, and magnified study materials.
Peng Lao's foreign language teacher is his granddaughter and **, once** asked him, you are so old, why do you still want to learn foreign languages?Peng Lao told her that after learning a foreign language, he wanted to read the English version of the Communist Manifesto. Regrettably, however, the 95-year-old revolutionary pioneer died of illness in Beijing in 1997 before this goal was achieved.
