Windows installation of the Cach M database system InterSystems IRIS

Mondo Technology Updated on 2024-01-28

Some basic concepts for Intersystems IRIS databases.

InterSystems IRIS is a database developed based on the Caché M language, which is widely used in healthcare systems and is the de facto standard used by default in medical records and document management in healthcare systems in North America.

Caché M is a database developed by the Mumps programming language, and Caché M provides an interface to directly use Caché M to operate on the database.

Caché is a French word, but it's easy to get confused with the English word cache, so most of the time it's used as caché m.

M means Mumps programming language, or M for short, and Caché uses M to build a number of functions.

Because it involves the use of medical system data, InterSystems IRIS is not an open source database, and you can use the following link: Evaluate Intersystems Products to evaluate the version.

This article is a tutorial for Windows installation according to the link of **.

Before you can go to the page above, you need to register and provide your information.

When you're done, you can double-click to run the installer.

We'll see the installation screen below:

Once you have agreed to the license agreement, click Next to continue with the installation.

We'll use the default one here, which is usually iris.

We'll do just that with the default installation directory.

Because I need to install this test tool, and not just install the client.

We also need to run an iris instance on our local machine, so we do a full installation, which is similar to a mysql installation, and we can install the mysql instance and development tools locally.

This place is the same as MySQL, we need to initialize the installation configuration, because we are using a local development environment, and we don't need to configure a username and password for our server, so we just use the minimum configuration.

You can make some changes to the configuration before proceeding with the actual installation.

Since we are an evaluation version, we will not have a license here.

You need to be patient here, and depending on your computer, the installation process usually takes about 5 minutes.

When you see the interface in the picture below, the installation is complete.

When the installation is complete, the database server process is started automatically.

The address of the web page is: http: localhost iris csp sys utilhomecsp

In this interface, you can usually see some configuration information of the server.

If you are able to see the above interface, your server is installed and started up normally.

Based on our experience with the first installation of InterSystems IRIS, the installation of the InterSystems IRIS database is similar to that of installing MySQL on Windows.

Not only the database server process is installed, but also the associated development tools and web management interface.

The overall installation process is relatively simple, and there are no important problems.
