Classical dance is a dance with Chinese national characteristics, which originated from traditional Chinese dance and absorbed the essence of art forms such as opera and martial arts, forming a unique artistic style. Classical dance is divided into four major schools: the body rhyme school, the Han and Tang schools, the Dunhuang school, and the Kunqu opera school.
Body rhyme school
The body rhyme school is a veteran school of classical dance, founded by Mr. Ouyang Yuqian. Based on the body of opera, combined with the training methods of ballet, the body rhyme school has formed a body rhyme system with Chinese national characteristics. The representative works of the body rhyme school include "Spring River Flower Moon Night", "Farewell My Concubine" and so on.
Han and Tang schools
Based on the dance of the Han and Tang dynasties, the Han and Tang dynasties formed a dance system with the style of the Han and Tang dynasties based on the artistic images of Dunhuang murals and Han painting bricks. The representative works of the Han and Tang schools include "Walking Song" and "Song of Ni Clothes and Feathers".
Dunhuang School
The Dunhuang School took the artistic images of Dunhuang murals and Mogao Grottoes as references, absorbed the style of dance in the Western Regions, and formed a dance system with Dunhuang style. The representative works of the Dunhuang School include "Silk Road Flower Rain" and "Dunhuang Dream".
Kunqu opera school
Based on Kunqu Opera, the Kunqu Opera School absorbed elements of traditional Chinese dance and formed a dance system with Kunqu Opera style. The representative works of the Kunqu Opera School include "The Peony Pavilion" and "The Legend of the West Chamber".
In addition to these four major genres, there are other schools of classical dance, such as Xinjiang classical dance, Tibetan classical dance, Mongolian classical dance, etc. These schools all have their own national characteristics and show the diverse culture of the Chinese nation.
