Liu Yun, secretary of the Youth League Committee of Shaoyang University, has been engaged in student work since she joined the work for 18 years, and the ideological and political guidance of students has always been the focus of her attention.
In 2021, after becoming a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Liu Yun took the initiative to take action and explore the integration of the culture of consultation into the ideological and political education of college students, guide college students to approach consultative democracy in practice, promote students to pay attention to social issues, make suggestions for social development, and solve matters around them in the form of consultation, so that various points of view can be exchanged, communicated and interacted, and cultivate a campus consultation culture of free speech, understanding, tolerance, harmony and freedom, so that students' voices and demands can be effectively resolved through consultation.
Last year, Shaoyang University took the lead in setting up a college student mock CPPCC association in the province, and under the joint promotion of the CPPCC and the Youth League Municipal Committee, the CPPCC special committee studio - Shaoyang CPPCC Student Union Committee member studio settled in Shaoyang University, creating the first special committee studio in Shaoyang City created in colleges and universities. Liu Yun took advantage of his status as a member of the committee to actively contact the Law and Business School of Shaoyang University as the business guidance unit of the association, and carried out special lectures for students, and at the same time contacted 20 CPPCC members from the four sectors of the Municipal Workers, Youth, Women's and Jiusan Societies to settle in the studio and set up 5 "member negotiation rooms" to provide paired counseling for students. Students are also encouraged to observe and understand the society through research and form proposals. The province took the lead in building a grassroots consultation platform for young people and students, and took the lead in building an emotional home for the masses of young people and students and committee members. At present, the membership of the association has grown from 217 to 602.
As a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and as an educator, it is a special experience to accompany students to participate in mock CPPCC activities. In this experience, the most felt thing is the change in the students. Through face-to-face meetings with CPPCC members, the students learned about the responsibilities of CPPCC members, and also understood that every proposal should follow the principle of 'no research, no submission'. Liu Yun introduced that through the methods of "simulated proposals" and "simulated deliberations", students can perceive the society, expand their horizons, cultivate innovative spirit, practical ability and sense of social responsibility, strengthen the political responsibility of college students as young people in the new era, and let more students enhance their understanding and recognition of the whole process of people's democracy in practical experience, and feel the power of democratic consultation.
I felt very cordial to communicate with the students, and I suddenly recalled the scene when I first became a member of the CPPCC to learn and understand the knowledge of the CPPCC. Liu Yun found that many students were full of interest in how the CPPCC performed its duties, how the CPPCC members consulted, and how the proposals were produced. "From discovering social problems, to conducting field research, distributing questionnaires, and writing 'proposals' reports, the students really felt that democracy is not abstract, and that democracy is all around us. Before the proposal is discussed, Liu Yun will always organize and guide the students to understand the actual situation and needs inside and outside the campus through field research, and form their own theme proposals. The warm atmosphere of the discussion also allowed the way of thinking of democratic consultation to take root among young students, fully demonstrating the spiritual outlook and feelings of the contemporary youth.
In his spare time, Liu Yun closely combines the "green" brand projects such as "Three Visits to the Countryside", "Returning to Hometown" and "Community Practice Plan" to organize students to go deep into the grassroots, rural areas, and communities for field trips and in-depth research, and effectively transform the research results into simulation proposals. Last year, she guided and assisted the "CPPCC members + college students" to form a research team, through the organization of "school leaders reception day", "CPPCC members and college students face-to-face", "consultation culture into the campus, I do practical things for students" and other activities, a total of more than 10,000 opinions and suggestions were collected, and on this basis, the second session of the 13th session of the Shaoyang CPPCC was formed The speech material "Suggestions on Retaining University Graduates in Shaoyang Development", which was signed and approved by Yan Hua, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, and Hua Xuejian, Mayor of Shaoyang. The city attaches great importance to it. On January 6, 2023, the Youth League issued the "Circular on Determining the First Batch of 100 Key Contact Mock CPPCC Student Associations", and the Shaoyang University Student Mock CPPCC Association became one of the only two university student clubs in Hunan that were shortlisted.
