Despite the cold wave, last night's Sinan art appreciation party was more lively than usual. Jiang Feng, a suona player of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, as a guest guide, presented a unique performance with the theme of "Modern Suona".
Suona, "can talk about the ancient things in the world, and can learn the song of a hundred birds and trees." In the 3rd century AD, suona was introduced to China from Persia and Arabia. During the Western Jin Dynasty, the music murals in Cave 38 of the Kizil Grottoes in Baicheng, Xinjiang had the image of playing suona.
Suona, which was introduced to China from West Asia along the Silk Road, conquered the ears of the Chinese with its sonorous sound. But do you know that suona was originally used in military music, and it was not until the Ming and Qing dynasties that it was widely used in folk instrumental music. The combination of bands with suona as the main performance constitutes an important branch of drum music, and its artistry has been continuously improved under the creation of outstanding folk musicians from all over the world, forming distinctive music types and genres in various places, and suona has become one of the most representative national musical instruments in China.
Jiang Feng's guided tour aroused great resonance among the audience: the process of Sinicization of Suona condensed the wisdom of Chinese ** creation, fully reflected the high integration and innovative development of Western Regions culture and Chinese civilization, and was a typical example of the pluralistic integration of Chinese civilization.
But the "secret" of suona does not stop there, "suona is a world musical instrument, so far each country has its own 'suona', but the name is different, our name is 'suona' is also a transliteration of Persian." Jiang Feng believes that **without borders,** is only divided into good and bad. Many people think that suona is only suitable for weddings and funerals, but Jiang Feng does not agree, so over the years, he has often combined suona and popular ** in his creations, so as to prove that "suona can also be very good".
At the scene, Jiang Feng not only used suona to play classic repertoire familiar to the audience, such as "The Singer of the World", "Mountains and Seas", and "The Dream of the Piano Man", but also brought other wind instruments such as the bamboo basket and the Armenian pipe that circulated on the Silk Road, which not only interpreted the strong Western style for the audience, but also brought the modern urban style of Shanghai, showing the strong expressiveness of suona instruments and the contemporary temperament and international expression of Shanghai-style Chinese music.
Especially when the easter egg song "Sinan Road" played, the atmosphere reached a climax. "Sinan Road" integrates Chinese musical instruments into the citypop style with a strong sense of urbanity, and intersperses the melody of Masnet's classic work "Meditations", truly achieving a "combination of Chinese and Western".
