However, Jin Yong did not let such a plot happen in "Dragon Babu".
At least from the bright side, Xiao Feng, the eldest brother of the three protagonists, failed to reap the perfect love, and even Jin Yong was very cruel to let him kill his beloved Azhu with his own hands, and the plot of Xiaojinghu can be called the saddest in the book, which makes people feel painful to the bone marrow.
But you may not know that it was not only Xiao Feng who failed to reap the perfect love, but even Duan Yu failed to marry Wang Yuyan, why did Jin Yong arrange Duan Yu's fate like this?
1. The silly boy who gets what he wants.
Strictly speaking, Duan Yu's kid doesn't actually look like a "martial arts ** protagonist" in the traditional sense, after all, he doesn't like martial arts at all, even if it is until the end of the story, he is still a character who "doesn't like martial arts", and the only reason for him to wander the rivers and lakes is to pursue those "good sisters" who are as beautiful as flowers.
Since he fell off the cliff and strayed into the holy land of Lang Huan, the holy land of the free faction, and saw the jade statue of the fairy sister, he fell in love with the face of the jade statue uncontrollably.
And coincidentally, Wang Yuyan of the Mantuo Villa looks almost exactly the same as the jade statue, and since then Duan Yu has become the woman's little follower, no matter how the woman snubs him, he will never give up, and even the reader feels worthless for him.
Fortunately, when it came to the section of Xixia Horses**, Murong Fu, who was completely exposed, pushed Duan Yu down the dry well, and Wang Yuyan also saw through her cousin, so she jumped off the dry well and turned to Duan Yu's arms.
Even after Gu Mozhi came to his senses, he also sent blessings to Duan Yu and Wang Yuyan, as if Duan Yu was guarding the clouds and seeing the moon, and he was going to return to the people with beauty.
The ending of the old version of the story did develop to the point where it ended after everyone quelled the Song Liao War, and as for what kind of life Duan Yu and Wang Yuyan lived later, Jin Yong did not say it clearly.

In the newly revised version, Jin Yong arranged for Wang Yuyan to leave Duan Yu, and before that, he even added a plot of "Looking for the Ageless Changchun Valley".

As a result, when she arrived in the Immortal Changchun Valley, she didn't see the Immortal Changchun Side, but she was angry because Mei Lan Zhuju said that she was not as beautiful as the jade statue in the blessed land of Lang Huan, and after that incident, she left Duan Yu.
When Wang Yuyan appeared for the last time, she was already by Murong Fu's side.

Wang Yuyan was gorgeously dressed, and her cheeks were lightly rouge. As for why Jin Yong added such a plot, it is not so much "rewriting the ending of Duan Yu and Wang Yuyan", but "continuing the ending of Duan Yu and Wang Yuyan".
Because he explained in the afterword that this plot is bound to happen, but the old version does not say it explicitly: "Duan Yu has a lot of space for Wang Yuyan to finally get rid of the 'inner demons' and other plots, and the original book leaves a lot of space for readers to imagine and fill in, but it is inevitably quite missing and ambiguous." Chinese readers are accustomed to reading **, they don't like to think out of thin air, and they must have written the author accurately, so they are relieved: "I see, this is it!".’”
It is equivalent to saying that no matter which version of the plot, Wang Yuyan will eventually leave Duan Yu.
That Azhu couldn't be with Xiao Feng because he died, but why couldn't Wang Yuyan figure it out, and would rather give up the glory and wealth brought by Duan Yu than accompany a madman?
Is this setting in line with human nature?
The answer is actually yes, such a plot seems absurd, but Jin Yong has already answered this question from Zhang Wuji's perspective in "Heaven and Dragon Slayer".
Third, Zhang Wuji's inner entanglement.
Zhang Wuji is an indecisive person, which is reflected not only in his attitude towards those enemies, but also in his attitude towards the woman he loves.
treats those beautiful women, Zhang Wuji sees one and loves another, whether it is Yin Li, Xiao Zhao, Zhao Min or Zhou Zhiruo, he wants to marry home.

People are always like this, they are always very nostalgic for their former lovers, Wang Yuyan will return to Murong Fu, but because that scumbag is the white moonlight in her heart, no matter how good Duan Yu is, he naturally can't compare.
