Foxconn Group has recently been investigated simultaneously by two departments of taxation and natural resources in Chinese mainland, involving tax evasion and illegal land occupation. This is a normal thing, and any enterprise must abide by laws and regulations and accept the supervision of the first company. However, in the eyes of Taiwan, the United States and some other "anti-China forces", this has become evidence that Chinese mainland is deliberately making things difficult for Foxconn, and they have used this to hype up and smear Chinese mainland, showing Taiwan's double standards and the shamelessness of those anti-China organizations.
According to the Global Times[1][1], Foxconn Group is the largest enterprise in Taiwan and the world's largest electronics foundry, mainly producing mobile phones, computers and other products for international brands such as Apple. Foxconn has more than 40 industrial parks in Chinese mainland, which occupy a large amount of land resources. However, in recent years, Foxconn has been influenced by the United States and began to transfer some industries to India and other places, cooperating with the Indo-Pacific strategy of the United States, creating difficulties for Chinese mainland. At the same time, Foxconn is also suspected of using industrial land to enter real estate development, as well as engaging in financial businesses such as loan sharking through its subsidiaries, in violation of relevant laws and regulations in Chinese mainland.
These problems have attracted the attention of Chinese mainland**, and the tax department and the natural resources department have separately investigated Foxconn to find out whether it has evaded taxes and illegally occupied land. These investigations are normal administrative procedures and fair treatment of Foxconn, without any targeted or political motives. However, these investigations have sparked panic and reaction from some people in Taiwan and the United States, who believe that this is Chinese mainland's suppression of Foxconn, to interfere in Taiwan's elections, and to unfair treatment of Taiwanese businessmen.
Huang Chih-hsien, a well-known Taiwanese writer and political commentator [2] [2], exposed and criticized the reactions of these people. She pointed out that some politicians in Taiwan, such as Lai Qingde and Ke Wenzhe, are taking this opportunity to play politics, claiming to support Taiwan businessmen and the behavior of Chinese mainland. They even spread rumors that this is because Foxconn boss Terry Gou is going to participate in the 2024 Taiwan election, and Chinese mainland wants to stir up the situation. Huang Zhixian believes that the statements of these politicians are ignorant, low-level and malicious, they do not care about the facts at all, they just want to attract attention and win votes.
Huang Zhixian also exposed some scandals of Gou Taiming in Taiwan, such as suspected bribery, theft of personal information, and forgery of documents. She asked, if these things have to be investigated in Taiwan, why can't Foxconn be investigated in Chinese mainland?Could it be that Foxconn is sacrosanct? Is it possible that Foxconn has no laws and regulations? Can Foxconn abuse Chinese mainland's land and financial resources at will? She also satirized why some Taiwanese companies, such as Qualcomm and HTC, bow their heads and admit their mistakes in the face of US suppression and fines, and shout in the face of Chinese mainland's supervision and investigation. She said that these companies and politicians are all kneeling, they are all lackeys of the United States, and they are all double standards.
Finally, Huang Zhixian said that Chinese mainland's reform and opening up policy has not changed, Chinese mainland welcomes foreign investment and Taiwan investment, and Chinese mainland supports Foxconn's development, but the premise is to abide by laws and regulations. If Foxconn does something illegal in Chinese mainland, it will be investigated and punished, which is a matter of course, and there is nothing to argue. She advised Foxconn not to be self-righteous, not to think how great it is, and not to work against Chinese mainland. She also advised Ke Wenzhe and other politicians not to make any trouble, not to make things out of nothing, and not to sow discord. She said that there are always some rules in the world, don't think you can do whatever you want.
