Manchester City came off a comfortable 3-0 victory over Urawa Red Diamonds in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup. The Japanese struggled to pose a threat against City's formidable squad, with the only surprise being that the score remained 0-0 until first-half stoppage time. However, City finally broke the deadlock just before the break, with Urawa's Marius Hojbraten inadvertently setting himself up for an own goal. Manchester City continued to dominate the game in the second half, with goals from Mateo Kovac and Bernardo Silva sealing the Champions League winners.
Midfielder Kovac cleverly slotted the ball past the Urawa goalkeeper and into the back of the net after Kyle Walker's pass. Silva used a deflection to push the ball into the third goal. Manchester City now have a chance to win their fifth trophy of the year by beating Brazil's Fluminense in Friday's final. Pep Guardiola's side have already won the UEFA Super Cup and are aiming to add the Club World Cup to their collection.
Despite Erling Haaland missing the game due to a foot injury, City's attacking prowess was outstanding throughout the game. They created many chances, and Urawa goalkeeper Shusaku Nishikawa had a busy evening. Urawa struggled to cope with City's constant pressing, and their limited attacking intent resulted in a comfortable victory for the English side. Manchester City will next face Fluminense in the final of the Club World Cup, followed by a Premier League clash with Everton on 27 December.
