South African side Mamelodi Sandanse took a major step towards advancing to the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League after beating Pyramids FC. The match was played in Egypt and Sandanse showed a great performance, taking the lead in the 17th minute through a goal from Tiboho Mokoena. Despite the Pyramids' efforts to find an equaliser, Sandaares' defence was impregnable.

The home side struggled to create scoring chances in the second half, while Sandarense effectively controlled the game. In stoppage time, the Pyramids came close to equalising, but Mohamed Hamdi's shot grazed the post. After the victory, Sandanse is now top of Group A with seven points, level with Railroad but leading on goal difference.

On the other hand, Pyramid FC finished bottom of the group with four points, greatly reducing the chances of advancing to the quarterfinals. Former Sandaan midfielder Turko Modise praised the team's success, stressing the importance of the tactics adopted by the coaches. Sandanse has shown dominance in the South African Premier League, winning six titles in a row. Modise attributes their success to talented players, as well as coaches who have implemented effective strategies to beat their opponents. Overall, a win over Pyramids FC by Mamelodi Sandarnes would bring them closer to qualifying for the African Champions League, while Pyramids' chances of progressing to the quarter-finals hang in the balance.
