The State Grid announced on the 2nd that China's first national offshore wind power research and testing base started construction in Fujian on the 1st.

The base is jointly invested and constructed by State Grid, China Huadian, China Power Construction and other units, and is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2024.

Fang Risheng, director of the Science and Technology Department of State Grid Fujian Electric Power, said that the base aims to build a world-class offshore wind power research platform, test platform, and exchange and cooperation platform, and is committed to building an industrial ecology integrating "technical research, testing and certification, equipment manufacturing, construction and installation, operation and maintenance", and fills the gap that there is no high-power full-scale ground test platform in China.

He said that after the completion of the base, it will integrate the functions of first-class analysis, operation testing, characteristic evaluation and technology research and development, and can carry out international cutting-edge technology research in many fields such as empirical research on large-capacity offshore wind turbine equipment and grid-connected technology research on grid-friendly wind power, tackle key core technologies of offshore wind power, and effectively improve China's basic research and test capabilities of offshore wind power.

In recent years, on the basis of the existing onshore wind power test and verification capabilities, the State Grid has continuously strengthened the research and test verification capacity of offshore wind power equipment. The offshore wind power test base is an important part of the National Key Laboratory of Renewable Energy Grid Integration, including two parts: onshore testing center and test wind farm, and its main function is to carry out full-scale ground tests of wind turbines with six degrees of freedom loading, ultra-large capacity complex power grid simulation, ultra-long blade biaxial high-frequency loading test and scientific research.
