Incompatible choice of words, so to speak, is the twin brother of the compatible choice of words "or", and even their symbols look very similar. But there is a slight difference in meaning. The meaning of the compatible choice "or" is that at least one or both can be satisfied. But the incompatible choice "either, or" means either. The compatible choice of "or" is basically covered in the annual exam, and "or" is relatively less examined, although the examination is less, it does not mean that this kind of question is easy to make, especially the contradiction between the two is very different. The contradiction of "or" is: "-a or b) = -a and -b";The contradiction of "either, or" is: "-either a, or b) = (a and b) or (-a and -b)", which is simply understood as "both or neither". Therefore, for incompatible choices, we need to grasp two knowledge points, one is its meaning, and the other is its contradiction. Specifically, let's get a feel for it by doing 2 questions:

Example 1] The four divisions of a certain agency, A, B, C, and D, are preparing to conduct in-depth research at the grassroots level. The places they are going to investigate are Hongxing Township, Chaoyang Township, Yongfeng Street, and Xingfu Street. Each office chooses exactly one of the places, and each does not repeat itself. Has:

1) Either A chooses a happy street, or B chooses a happy street, and the two must be one or the other;

2) Either A chooses Hongxing Township, or C chooses Yongfeng Street, and the two must be one of them;

3) If C chooses Yongfeng Street, then Ding chooses Happy Street.

Based on the above statement, which of the following can be derived?

a.A selection of Chaoyang Township bB Red Star Township.

c.C Happiness Street DDing Xuan Yongfeng Street.

Answer] D [Analysis] The first step is to determine the question type.

Associate the word "if...... according to the stemThen ......etc., identified as translation reasoning.

The second step is to translate the stem.

Either A chooses Happy Street, or B chooses Happy Street.

Either A chooses Hongxing Township, or C chooses Yongfeng Street.

Yongfeng Street Ding Xuan Xingfu Street.

The third step is to reason.

The biggest message in the stem is "Happy Street", according to which it can be seen that Happy Street can only be chosen in A and B, which means that Ding does not choose Happy Street. For whether or not is the case, it is inevitable to draw the conclusion that it is not before the no, so C does not choose Yongfeng Street. Combined, C does not choose Yongfeng Street, then A must choose Hongxing Township. Combine to get B to choose the happy street. From this: A chooses Hongxing Township, B chooses Happy Street, C does not choose Yongfeng Street, then C can only choose Chaoyang Township, and the rest of Ding chooses Yongfeng Street.

So, choose option D.

Example 2] A driver violates the driving rules, and the police say: "You will either have your license deducted or fined." The driver said, "I don't agree." According to the driver, which of the following must he agree to?

a.Withhold the license, but not a fine.

b.Fines, but not license seizures.

c.If it is not possible to do both the license and the fine, then the license will be both the license and the fine.

d.Admit your mistake and don't violate the rules again next time.

Answer] C [Analysis] The first step is to determine the question type.

According to the stem, the word "or...... is associated, or ......"Identified as translational reasoning.

The second step is to translate the stem.

Either the license is withheld or a fine.

The third step is to reason.

The contradiction is: - Either the license is deducted or the fine is imposed) = (the license is deducted and fined) or (the license is deducted and - the fine is fined).

According to the "negative affirmative", it can be translated as: if not (- withhold the license and - fine), then (withhold the license and fine).

So, choose option C.

Combined with the above two examples, it is not difficult to find that for incompatible choices, "or" generally does not appear alone, but will appear together with the content of other translation reasoning questions, when we do the questions, we must not only master the basic knowledge of translation reasoning, but also grasp the meaning of "either, or" is "choose one of the two", and at the same time, we must know that its contradiction is "have or nothing". That's the key to getting this kind of question right.
