Japan lacks trust, and China and Russia cooperate in the development of the Kuril Islands

In the southern part of the Pacific Ocean, there is an archipelago located in the far Far East and in the northern waters of Japan. The islands are geographically important, and controlling this territory can effectively contain the military power of the United States and Japan and prevent them from taking hostile actions against Russia. At the same time, the beautiful scenery and abundant resources here once attracted Putin to invite Japan to jointly develop during the ** administration, and the relations between the two sides were once friendly. However, Japan has been responding to the US strategy of supporting Ukraine and taking hostile actions against Russia, and this move by Japan has led to tensions between Russia and Japan, and the original plan to develop the Kuril Islands has been shelved. Now that Russia is mired in the conflict in Ukraine and desperately needs money to sustain the country's economy, they are looking to work with China.

According to reports, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuriy Trutnev said that Chinese investors are showing great interest in the development of the Kuril Islands. Trutnev previously held a meeting with China to discuss cooperation in the Russian Far East and Northeast China. Trutnev said that the Chinese side reacted positively to the proposal to jointly develop the Kuril Islands, and he was confident that with the help of Chinese investors, the prospects for the development of the Kuril Islands would be limitless.

In fact, the Sakhalin region of Russia plans to develop ecotourism in the Kuril Islands in order to attract Chinese tourists. The Kuril Islands have unique landscapes and pristine mountain ranges, and if fully developed, they are bound to attract more tourists and boost the local economy.

Russia is developing plans for the development of the Far East, hoping to turn the region into a pioneer zone for economic development, attracting investment and cooperation from China, India and other countries. At the same time, Russia did not invite Japan to participate, but chose to negotiate with China on the development of the Kuril Islands, which shows Russia's trust in China.

For Russia, Sino-Russian cooperation is mutually beneficial. On the one hand, China has the technology and capital to build infrastructure, and is fully capable of helping Russia develop remote areas. On the other hand, Russia has abundant resources in the Far East, including oil, coal, forests, fisheries, etc., and the development of these resources will promote Russia's economic development.

China and Russia can complement each other's advantages and achieve win-win cooperation, from which both sides can benefit a lot. Of course, there are also reasons why Russia chose not to invite Japan to participate in the development of the Kuril Islands.

First of all, Japan has always claimed that the South Kuril Islands belong to their territory and has repeatedly made claims to Russia. But the Russian side insists that the islands are the result of victory in World War II and inherited from the Soviet Union. Maintaining friendly relations has always been China's principle, and at the same time, it is one of China's strengths. Unlike the concern that inviting Japan to participate in the development of the South Kuril Islands may lead to contradictions, Russia's choice to invite China to invest in the development of the region is obviously a wise decision. Japan's support for Ukraine, an ally of the United States, has caused Russia to lose trust in it. Moreover, if Japan participates in the development of the South Kuril Islands, the United States is likely to take the opportunity to sow discord between the two sides and encourage Japan to fight for the islands. In this case, Japan has set up special forces, apparently to seize the islands. China, on the other hand, has always pursued a policy of peaceful development, never expanded, and maintained good friendly relations with its neighbors. Therefore, Russia's invitation to China to participate in the development of the Kuril Islands will not only help promote cooperation and win-win results between the two countries, but also ensure regional stability and peace.
