In the past two days, a notice from the Baifo vegetable market in Shijiazhuang City has attracted attention. This notice shows that due to air pollution, the superior will order to stop noodle processing, cake processing, and pancake production from now on.

According to the Beijing News, on December 27, the Tangu Sub-district Office of Chang'an District, Shijiazhuang issued a notice that when the Baifo vegetable market recently conducted safety production and food safety inspections, it was found that 13 merchants in the market had hidden dangers and asked them to suspend business for rectification. Without the permission of the environmental protection department, the Baifo vegetable market ordered the above-mentioned merchants to stop the processing and production of noodles, cakes and pancakes on the grounds of air pollution prevention and control. At present, the notice has been repealed.

In order to deal with air pollution, the operators in the market were required to stop noodle processing, cake shredding processing, and pancake making. According to market operators, this summer, market managers also asked some businesses to close for four or five days for similar reasons.

It can be seen that it is not the first time that the market management has ordered businesses to suspend business on the grounds of air pollution prevention and control. In the face of overwhelming criticism, the notice that was paid on December 25 was revoked in just two days, which was really a slap in the face for the market management involved. The reason for the closure of merchants has also been corrected in the latest notice: during safety production and food safety inspections, 13 merchants were required to suspend business for rectification because of hidden dangers.

Therefore, rectification is rectification, so why should it be in the name of air pollution prevention and control?Such a notice that "the donkey's head is not in the horse's mouth" not only makes the public mistakenly believe that the market management is interfering with the normal operation of merchants in the name of environmental protection, but also makes people resist air pollution control.

The reason why this matter has caused controversy is that people have doubts about the reason for the closure of merchants in the notice: how did the remediation of air pollution fall on the heads of noodle processing, cake processing and other market operators?Could it be that air pollution also includes flour pollution?

As a market manager, the decision to suspend business cannot be made on grounds that are obviously contrary to common sense, which is full of arbitrariness, and cannot convince the public, and even gives people the impression of ignoring the interests of business owners and being involved in market operations.

In light of this incident, the market manager should also take precautions and issue notices as comprehensively and rigorously as possible, especially for decisions involving relevant stakeholders, and should provide reasons that can withstand doubt.
