Radford Motors has unveiled a Type 62-2 version called the Track Car Edition Series, inspired by a special car from the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb earlier this year.

Limited to just 12 units, the Track Edition differentiates itself from the road car with a number of upgrades, such as a full carbon bodywork, an upgraded subframe, a new rear wing and an improved suspension system. The underside of the vehicle has also been redesigned, presumably for better aerodynamics.

With 600 horsepower, the standard 62-2 isn't what you would call a lack of power. Still, Radford turned the dial to 11 with the Track Car Edition Series, which now moves from Supercharged 3Up to 5 hp in the 710-liter V6 engine (loosely related to the motor in the Lotus Emira, as the Type 62-2 is based on the old Evora). As a result, it can reach 60. in less than 2 seconds2 mph with a top speed of 160 mph – 26 mph lower than the road version.

These 12 lucky customers can personalize the Track Car Edition according to their requirements. Single and double seat setups as well as left- and right-hand drive are available.

The Radford Type 62-2 Track Car Edition also comes with custom Sparco racing overalls and driving shoes, Salt driving sunglasses, helmets, racing gloves, and a handover experience with the Jenson Button, one of the founders behind the revived Radford brand.

Earlier this year, Tanner Foust drove a modified Type 62-2 race car to a 09:37 in the challenging Pikes Peak hill climbThe record-breaking results of the 326 were in the exhibition category, which naturally led to the celebration of the special edition. These special vehicles are designed for use on the rigors of the racetrack. Of course, this comes at a high price: $ 1 million. It was steep, but the customer did gain the expertise of the entire Radford team.

Radford will work with customers who wish to use their vehicles at specific events, such as Pikes Peak or the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb. Presumably, this means that each car will be adjusted to the customer's requirements and driving style to make its performance different.

In addition, owners will have the opportunity to hone their driving skills with Tanner Foster and Jenson Button at Radford Racing School (formerly Arizona's iconic Bondurant Racing School). Other special services include professional tire support in Yokohama and special automotive tools from Mac Tools.

"Under every Radford Motors Type 62-2 Track Edition, it's a highly tuned supercar that incorporates our F1 partners and engineers, as well as Colin Chapman's ethos of simplifying everything and adding lightness," said company co-founder Ant Antstead. "Our car is one of the lightest supercars on the planet, offering an exhilarating driving experience that we think has been lost in recent years. ”
