Guo Moruo was greedy for fun when he was a child, and skipped class with his classmates to steal peaches to eat, and was discovered by the teacher. The teacher first reprimanded the student who skipped class, and then said: "I have a link, and whoever can make a link can be exempted from punishment." The teacher wrote the upper couplet on the blackboard, and Guo Moruo immediately walked to the blackboard and wrote the lower couplet. The teacher was very satisfied with it and exempted him from punishment. "Pangui" and "Bu Toad Palace" are all the meaning of flying yellow and soaring.

During the Northern Song Dynasty, Liu Chu (that is, Liu Gong's father) was talented, and Wang Anshi intended to use this to make it difficult for him, but Liu thought for a moment and then came up with the next couplet. The difficulty of this link lies in solving the contradiction between the number of the lower bracket and the number of the columns, the meaning and the upper link, which are more or less difficult to pair. Liu won by skill, opened the cave, and found a unique way from the "Book of Songs". Wind, elegance and song are the four components of the Book of Songs, of which elegance is divided into big and small elegance, which is commonly known as the four poems in history. With "four poems" to "three generations", and "Feng Ya Song" to "Xia Shang Zhou", the witty words are amazing, and they are called the absolute. (There are other interpretations of the "Four Poems", but here we take the more popular one.) ）

In ancient times, there was a certain Wang, who spent extravagantly on weekdays, and lacked firewood and rice during the New Year, so he pasted a couplet on the door to "do frugal things, live an indifferent year" to relieve self-mockery. The neighbors who have good things add a word to each of the upper and lower links, Wang is ashamed, and the audience laughs at it.

This couplet is a folk circulation of a pair of elephant couplets, the battle is neat, the form of goats and buffaloes is vividly expressed, quite vivid and interesting.

In ancient times, there was a Li who was an official, who did not want to seek wealth for the people, but set up a name and scavenged the people's fat and ointment, and the people hated him to the bone. After his death, someone made a joke about this couplet, and later used it to satirize **.

The gentleman in the forest has the heart to find Concubine Xiang.
When Wen Zhengming, one of the "Four Talents of Wuzhong" in the Ming Dynasty, was young, he heard that Du Yuefang, the young lady of Du Mansion, was as beautiful as a flower, and she knew everything about piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, so she fell in love, but she suffered from no matchmaking to help. One day, Wen Zhengming jumped into the back garden of Du's house without permission, and happened to meet Du Yuefang, Du Yuefang saw that Wen Zhengming was handsome and chic, so she didn't let her family arrest Wen Zhengming. Later, they tied the knot after several twists and turns.

Legend has it that there was a quack doctor named "Ji Sheng", who was very poor in medical skills, but he was very fond of boasting, and someone put this couplet on his door to mock him. In the idioms of the upper and lower inlays, each idiom deliberately omits a word, and the missing words add up to his name.

Satirizing Yuan Shikai's couplets as emperors: the upper and lower couplets are simulated gongs and drums. "When" is a small gong, "Qing" is a small cymbal, "love" is a big cymbal, and "crazy" is a big gong. In terms of content, "universal celebration" should of course be "celebrated", "the country is crazy", and "love madness" is also a matter of course. However, the word "love madness" is a derogatory term, and it also refers to the fornication of men and women, which is very reasonable to use on the thief Yuan Shikai and his followers.
