Manchester United's Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek has reportedly offered La Liga giants Barcelona a bid to join the club in January's winter transfer window. Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag confirmed this week that Donny van de Beek could leave, while Serie A's Juventus and Turkish Super League's Galatasaray are also considering a move. Donny van de Beek, who had previously been favoured by Real Madrid, was unable to join due to the Galaxy's financial constraints, although it was thought his style might be more suited to La Liga's tactics. Although Barcelona are not keen on short-term deals, the coaching staff believes that adding a midfielder will help the team move up the rankings. Regardless of where Donny van de Beek ends up, he will be one of the most failed signings in United's history. Since joining in 2020 for a £39million transfer fee, he has achieved little to nothing. However, the Red Devils' failed transfer is not limited to Donny van de Beek. According to the Manchester Evening News, some of the club's staff and players have become suspicious of Ten Hag's recruitment options and tactical approach. Dressing room sources have revealed that the situation is dire, with a number of veteran United players expressing concerns about the direction of the club.
Although Ten Hag led the side to a Carabao Cup triumph and a third-place finish in the Premier League last season, there are still a handful of players who have expressed doubts about the poor away record, and that concern has now become even more acute. They have been baffled by Ten Hag's recruitment options, such as the £73 million signing of 20-year-old Hojlund from Atalanta amid a clear lack of goalscorers. Despite Hojlund's potential potential, United need a ready-made scorer like Harry Kane more than a future star. Hojlund is yet to score in the Premier League, although he has scored five goals in the Champions League. Strikingly, Serie A side Inter Milan have signed French striker Marcus Thuram for free, and have been involved in 12 goals (6 goals, 6 assists) this season!Manchester United's £83 million signing of Antony has also become an internal doubter, with his performances clearly not worth it and a £200,000-a-week salary. Weghorst, who has left the club, and Mason Mount, who signed him for £60 million this summer, have also been questioned by his team-mates in his selection of reinforcements.
