After Excel creates the pivot table, if the original data is updated, we need to refresh the pivot table synchronously to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of data analysis. It's like planting crops on a fertile soil, and if the soil nutrients are continuously replenished, the crops can thrive. Similarly, it is only by constantly refreshing the pivot table that it can continue to provide us with fresh, valuable data analysis results. Let's use the following demo example to better understand how to update a pivot table.
When there is a change in the original data, for example, if the student's B2 English score is wrong, it needs to be changed to 65, but the data in the pivot table will not be automatically updated.
Click on the pivot table, find "Refresh" under the "Analysis" tab in the "Pivot Table Tool", click on it, and you can update the data.
To prevent you from forgetting to refresh the pivot table in time when updating the data source, you can set the pivot table to refresh data when opening a file: click the pivot table, and then right-click to find the pivot table options.
Once the dialog box opens, click on "Data" and tick "Refresh data when opening file". This saves the worksheet after updating the data source, and the pivot table is automatically updated the next time you open the file.
In addition, if you adjust the column width and cell formatting of a pivot table and keep these settings while refreshing the data, you can also set them in the Pivot Table Options. Remove the check box "Automatically adjust column width when updating" and leave the check box "Keep cell formatting when updating".
Follow the above method to set up auto-update for excel pivot table, have you learned?
