Ding Changqin: After becoming a mother, I am even stronger

Mondo Military Updated on 2024-01-19

2:32:26, the overall ranking of the women's group of the Shanghai Marathon in 2023 is 11th, the second in China, just looking at this result and ranking, it is not particularly amazing, but this may be the fastest result in the history of Chinese marathons as a mother, and it is the famous Ding Changqin who created this result.

The story behind the first competition 8 months after giving birth, 2:32:26, I believe many people will be interested, for which 98 Run conducted an exclusive interview with Ding Changqin.

The professional team has been living a relatively simple life for nearly 10 years, but after quitting the system, Ding Changqin's identity has changed many times. In addition to being an athlete, when she returned to Zunyi Sports School to teach, she also had the identity of a teacher and coach. Later, he experienced major life events such as marriage and childbirth, and became a wife and mother.

For various reasons, Ding Changqin resigned from her job at Zunyi Sports School before, and now she is a Nike contract athlete, of course, the focus of her life is to take care of her children.

I would like to thank Nike very much for its support and help to me, and thank Nike for its trust in me. Nike is actually quite supportive, and it has not reduced its support and help for me because of pregnancy. ”

Like other young mothers who are new mothers, "I haven't slept a full night since I was pregnant." Raising children is already very hard for the average person, but it is even more difficult for elite athletes who have to juggle training and competition, because it is impossible to guarantee quality rest and recovery, and it is difficult to keep training and achieve good results.

Because I am still breastfeeding, my daily training time is in the morning, and when the child sleeps, it is usually in the morning, as early as possible. When he was very young, he went out to train while he was sleeping, and now that the child is older, if it is any other time, he must go running when he is not hungry or when he is sleeping", Ding Changqin arranged the training in this way.

She said, "When the child grows older, the time for recovery and training can be more sufficient, because the child can be fed complementary food when he is older, and he can be breastfed less slowly, and I will go up and run after feeding him before I get on the horse." ”

For the result of 2:32:26, Ding Changqin said, "The results are not accidental, my accumulation of more than ten years, including my insistence on exercising throughout my pregnancy, but I have not posted it on social **, because I am afraid that someone will blindly follow suit and have an accident, after all, everyone's physical condition is different." ”

Another point, after all, I have been engaged in this sport since I was a child, and I still love this sport, if I don't have this love, it is still quite hard to tell the truth. ”

The training did not stop for a long time, during pregnancy, according to their physical condition, to maintain some exercise, ten or twenty days after giving birth began to do abdominal muscle repair and pelvic repair exercises, Xi Xi a month later began to do lumbar abdominal muscles and core exercises, in fact, I was very tired and sweating a lot every day, because I think these things are my own love. ”

I did the core first, and then I didn't start running until the end of May and June. ”

Restore basic physical fitness first, and then start running training, I believe that Ding Changqin's experience will also be helpful to other female friends.

In the past, when he was in the system, Ding Changqin did not participate in many marathons, only running races such as the trials or the National Games, because he also had to compete in the venue, except for some competitions that he had to participate in, he almost did not participate in commercial competitions. After leaving the system, I participated in more races, but compared to some other runners who participated in marathons frequently, it was still much less.

Her explanation for this is, "I hope that my sports life cycle is longer, unless I am training, generally if I run the whole race, there will be certain requirements, not to say that I will participate in every race, because after all, the whole horse will still consume a relatively large amount of body."

Then there will be a half-marathon or a 10-kilometer transition, and if you run too much of the whole race, you may not be able to recover, which is not conducive to a better result in the next race. ”

This time the time of 2:32:26 is the second best time she ran after quitting the system, and she ran 2:31:06 in the 2020 Changzhou Elite Ranking Championship. Her marathon PB was 2:26:54 at the 2015 World Championships in Chongqing.

At the World Championships in Beijing that year, she ranked 16th with a time of 2:33:04, which is also the highest ranking among Chinese players.

And the first time I participated in the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, I started at 2:30 p.m. in super hot temperatures, with 2:4013th place finisher, "It was hotter than the Beijing World Championships, and many people suffered from heat stroke," Ding recalled.

After the race, she may also participate in some small races this year.

Born in 1991, Ding Changqin is a native of Zunyi, Guizhou, when he was a child, he competed on behalf of the school, and without systematic training, he could be on par with the students of the sports school.

In 2008, he entered the Guizhou Sports Team, and within two years, Ding Changqin got a chance to train with Rosa, China's first track and field coach at that time. Originally a doctor, the Italian became a well-known sports agent and coach, and there are still many world-class long-distance runners under his company.

In 2006, he began to cooperate with the Chinese Athletics Association, and was later officially hired as the first foreign coach of Chinese track and field. At that time, Ding Changqin was in the domestic coaching staff of the national team, and once the players in charge of Rosa were adjusted, and after testing the maximum oxygen uptake, Ding Changqin officially became a member of the national team Rosa team.

He was the head coach, and there were several assistant coaches who took us to practice, and at that time, Zhu Xiaolin and other main players were the main players, so we followed the practice."

In fact, when I was with Rosa, because I was a child, but when the coach led me, my grades also gradually improved, and I am also grateful to the national team for this platform to hire these high-level coaches. At that time, Coach Rosa was more protective of me and didn't let me run the whole marathon because he felt that I was too small and should focus on the field. ”

But the reality is very cruel, because there is a marathon team event, Ding Changqin, who is just old enough, still participated in the Dalian Marathon in 2011, and finally completed the first marathon with a score of 2:43:00, and the experience and results are not good.

In recent years, many young people who have debuted in marathons have also run very well, Ding Changqin's view on this issue is, "If you train for a marathon during the speed explosion period, you may also have good results, if you really want to sprint with athletes who have turned from 5,000 and 10,000 meters, it will definitely be more difficult, that is, the sprint speed and absolute speed are worse."

For example, Zhang Deshun, she started from 5,000 and 10,000 meters, the foundation was very good, and then she turned to the marathon, and her sports life and sports performance were relatively stable, which is a normal exercise physiological cycle." This year, Netherlands' Hassan and Kenya's Obiri are examples of success.

But she does not deny that the current training concept and method may be more scientific, coupled with the deepening of the professionalism of the marathon, the times are developing, and the direct marathon debut is also suitable for some people without going through the stage of the track race. Including the new world record holder Kiptum, there are many young players.

Although he has participated in two World Championships marathons and won the runner-up in the marathon of the National Games once, Ding Changqin 10 years ago really liked the 5000 meters. After Coach Rosa, she briefly shadowed a Romanian foreign coach, and then another well-known Italian foreign coach, Carloa.

This senior lecturer of the World Athletics Federation has led athletes to win dozens of medals in the World Championships. The Chinese Athletics Association invited him to come in the hope of making a breakthrough in the women's marathon through intensive training.

Nominally, it's a women's marathon, but Karlova talks to each team member and listens to their ideas, "He wants to really get to know the athletes, respect the athletes, he wants to know what you really like, and then I say I like to run the track, I like the feeling of running laps in the field, the atmosphere is better, I like to run 5000 meters."

Later, Coach Karlova developed personalized training according to the characteristics of different players. Ding Changqin did not enter the top eight in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters of the 2013 National Games, and his condition was not very good.

But in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, he won the bronze medal in the 5,000 meters and the silver medal in the 10,000 meters, two medals, 15:2151 and 3153.09 is still her PB, and these two results are still one of the most outstanding results in China in the past 10 years. In history, only she and Sun Yingjie have won medals in both Asian Games.

Ding Changqin said, "When I practice with him, it is also the time when I am most confident, and my grades have been going up, and at that time I will be more motivated to practice, because I think the coach will know what you need and what to practice, and then you will be willing to practice."

After that, Ding Changqin kept in touch with Coach Karlova intermittently, and when she was in the most difficult time, Coach Karlova expressed his willingness to give her a weekly training plan without charging any fees.

In 2020, when Ding Changqin went to Kenya to train, he went to visit Coach Kalova again. "He knows me best when I'm at my best, the training plan and whatever, so I'm very grateful to him.

Special respect for him, he has a spirit worth learning and Xi, his love for sports, his love for marathon, for every athlete, no matter who he brings, it is this spirit that makes me feel deeply, so now I myself also like this kind of marathon, and I admire Coach Karlova even more. ”

10 years have passed, all aspects have changed a lot, and now Ding Changqin has also stayed away from the plastic runway, but his love for that speed has not changed, "Now I haven't touched the field for many years, but I will still run ten kilometers or half a way to find the feeling of racing, after all, I am a field athlete, and I still have that feeling for speed."

This year, Nike is using the theme of "What's Next, Don't Record" to encourage runners to reap their own happiness and satisfaction through running. PB is never everything, the pursuit of PB, but also do not forget to pursue all the goals and achievements it carries.

Race walking Olympic champion Liu Hong has experienced childbirth and comeback, and can maintain a very high level, and the younger marathon runner Jiao Jingjing also has a similar experience, Ding Changqin said that she was also inspired by some foreign athletes, and it is not uncommon for female athletes who have given birth to several children, and can maintain or even improve their performance in their 30s, Ding Changqin said, "I think after becoming a mother, I will become stronger and more mature in all aspects." ”

Most of the sisters who trained together in the national team have retired, and only Ding Changqin is left to maintain a high level, and one of her goals for next year's competition is to run into 230, and we also expect her marathon road to go to the next level. What's next: Record
