Project Background
With the continuous improvement of environmental protection requirements, industrial wastewater treatment has become a compulsory course for many enterprises. However, in industrial production, how to effectively treat wastewater containing heavy metals has become a key challenge.
Heavy metal wastewater refers to wastewater containing toxic and harmful substances such as mercury, lead, copper, cadmium, zinc, nickel, etc., which is used in industrial fields such as mining, metal smelting, electroplating, printed circuit board production, as well as urban drainage, agricultural irrigation and other activities, such as mine pit drainage, concentrator tailings drainage, waste rock field leaching water, non-ferrous metal smelter dust removal drainage, non-ferrous metal processing plant pickling water, electroplating plant plating parts washing water, iron and steel plant pickling drainage, etc.
The reason why heavy metal wastewater is difficult to treat is that there are many types of pollutants in heavy metal wastewater, high concentration, and unlike other pollutants, heavy metal pollutants are not easy to decompose themselves, but they will be transformed under the action of microorganisms, forming methylmercury with greater toxicity, resulting in secondary pollution such as inorganic mercury.
Chemical precipitation method is one of the most commonly used and widely used heavy metal wastewater treatment methods, the principle of which is to add chemical reagents to the wastewater, so that it reacts with heavy metal ions to form insoluble precipitate, and then separates the heavy metals from the wastewater by solid-liquid separation.
In terms of treating heavy metal wastewater, the chemical precipitation treatment process is low in cost, simple and convenient in operation, does not require complex equipment, and has good treatment effect, which can effectively remove heavy metal ions in wastewater, but heavy metal ions may remain in the wastewater, which requires further treatment to meet the discharge standards. Therefore, chemical precipitation is suitable for treating wastewater with high concentration of heavy metals, but not suitable for treating heavy metal wastewater with large water volume and low concentration.
The ion exchange method can effectively make up for the defects of this process, and its principle is to exchange the heavy metal ions in the industrial wastewater with other ions in the ion exchange resin, so that the heavy metal ions are fixed on the resin, so as to remove the heavy metals in the wastewater. This method is simple and easy to operate, which can not only deeply treat the heavy metals in the wastewater, but also carry out the adsorption of solid carriers with heavy metal ions through the regeneration process to achieve resource utilization.
