The sunset on the isolated island, the blue waves and warm sand of the small bridge, the fall of a few white gulls, a beautiful scenery embedded in the blue sea and blue sky, and the landscape bridge that is perfectly integrated with the wheat island add a touch of color to the wheat island in winter, and give the popular attraction of wheat island a new life. Since the implementation of the ecological restoration project of Wheat Island, Wheat Island has become a popular Internet celebrity check-in place, with nearly 100,000 tourists entering and leaving the island every day at peak times. In the past, the only way for pedestrians and tourists to enter and exit Wheat Island was a Lulian Island dam with a top width of only 4 to 5 meters, and the traffic capacity was difficult to adapt to the needs of entering the island.
In order to systematically improve the tour experience of Wheat Island, a place for Internet celebrity check-ins, continue to amplify the Internet celebrity effect, and comprehensively improve the quality of the city, Laoshan District launched the construction project of Wheat Island Bridge in April 2023. With "waves" as the element, it refers to both "ocean waves" and "wheat waves", which also means that tourists encounter the "romance" that belongs to Wheat Island. The width of the bridge ranges from 6 to 13 meters, and when viewed from the air, the bridge and the island are perfectly integrated, like a giant "guitar" with the main island as the body and the bridge as the neck, and the railing is just like the rhythm of the strings, playing the romantic music of the island of youth.
During the construction process, the Laoshan District Urban Management Bureau organized all parties of the project to optimize the plan, prepared the "Tourist Low Impact Construction Plan", completed the construction of the steel temporary bridge on the east side in only 10 days, and adjusted the tourist tour route in time before the May Day holiday, so as to do a good job in guiding tourists and ensuring the safety of tourists. At the same time, in view of the wind and wave problems existing on the site, the project department innovatively adopted the process of "embankment cofferdam + waterproof box" to overcome the influence of sea tide and the difficulties of underwater operation, realize the 24-hour all-weather operation of the cushion cap, and completed the construction of all 11 cushion caps and piers in 25 days, which greatly compressed the bridge construction cycle.
In the next step, the construction unit will organize forces to dismantle and renovate the steel temporary bridge on the east side and the corresponding square area on the south side that were used for diversion in the early stage. In order to ensure the safety of tourists, the construction area will be closed and enclosed, which is expected to be completed by the end of March 2024. At that time, a brand new wheat island will be presented to visitors in its entirety.
