The enlarged WEC grid will see former F1 World Champion Jenson Button return to the sport. According to Motorsport, the 43-year-old British racer will race full-time with Hertz Team Jota in a Porsche 963.
Barton will drive the 38 supercar with teammates Oliver Rasmussen and Phil Hanson. "I'm excited to be racing at the 2024 WEC with my teammates Oliver and Phil," Barton said.
It is worth mentioning that the Hertz team's Porsche 963 LMDH will be dressed in gold livery designed by Singer, known for his classic Porsche 911 project.
Barton was supposed to work with former F1 champion Sebastian Vettel. But with the driver line-up confirmed, negotiations between Vettel and the team appear to be heading south. Former F1 driver Robert Kubica should also be involved, but apparently, he will be driving a Ferrari 499P for the AF Corse.
The 2024 season may lose teams like Glickenhaus Racing, but it will bring new and exciting contenders such as the Lamborghini Iron Lynx and Lamborghini SC63, which was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year. BMW M TEAM WRT will also be competing in two M Hybrid V8s.

Until then, the British driver will be on a tour with the garage in a modified Chevrolet Camaro ZL56 at Le Mans in 2023.
Endurance racing is all about teamwork, and there's no better team than Hertz Team Jota against the big manufacturers of Hypercar. ”
Ahead of the start of the WEC season in Qatar in March, Barton will make his second appearance for Wrtandretti in the Acura ARX-06 LMDH at the 24 Hours of Daytona at the start of the IMSA season.
