In order to maintain its technological hegemony, the US side has made great efforts to increase chip control, and has successively added thousands of Chinese companies such as Huawei, SMIC, and Shanghai Microelectronics to the entity list, hindering the development of China's high-end chips.
On the other hand, we will promote the implementation of the chip bill, take out huge chip subsidies, invite TSMC, Samsung and other giants to invest and build factories in the United States, and accelerate the increase of local high-end chip production capacity. Recently, it has made continuous moves, and the United States has also spoken out frequently!
Previously, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Raimondo revealed that the goal of the U.S. to rebuild chip production capacity is to build a large-scale chip manufacturing park in the United States, where the world's top chip manufacturing is produced, and only here.
To this end, the United States has strongly invited TSMC and Samsung to invest in the United States to build factories, and strive to increase the production capacity of local chips in the United States as soon as possible.
But after all, they are still foreign companies, and they have to share the US chip subsidies, which has caused dissatisfaction among local companies, so Intel, Micron, etc. have invested in the United States to build factories, and then the United States has begun to pay more attention to local production capacity.
Originally, the United States promised that TSMC, Samsung, etc. could share a large amount of subsidies, but they were busy for a long time, and chip factories were built, but they didn't get any subsidies. Not only that, but the US side has also set up a lot of fence details.
This is not counting, the United States is more inclined to American companies in the distribution ratio of chip subsidies, with Intel having the most and TSMC the least.
Recently, the news came that the defense contractor of the United States received the first subsidy of the CHIPS Act, which amounted to about $35 million. You must know that TSMC was the first to build a factory in the United States under the incentive of subsidies, but it still did not get subsidies first.
It can be seen that the United States no longer attaches so much importance to TSMC. TSMC should also be aware of it, so it postponed the mass production of the US factory for one year, accelerated the expansion of the Nanjing factory in the mainland, and also went to the mainland to hold a technical analysis meeting to win Chinese enterprise customers.
Raimondo said about the first subsidy that in order to maintain the fact that the chips made in the United States by the Americans for military equipment are the meaning. This meaning has been said very obviously, TSMC is not its own person after all.
This is not counting, in addition to this incident, there is another incident that can better illustrate the attitude of the United States towards TSMC today.
Recently, the U.S. media released news that major semiconductor manufacturers such as Micron, IBM, and Applied Materials have reached a cooperation and will invest $10 billion to build a next-generation High-NA EUV semiconductor R&D center in the United States to develop the world's most advanced chip technology.
ASML and TSMC were not invited to this cooperation, but they also used $1 billion to purchase a new generation of EUV lithography machines from ASML, and TSMC was directly excluded, and TSMC is said to be the best player to participate in the cooperative research and development.
In this regard, some foreign media directly said that American chips have begun to accelerate, and they still want to take high-end chip manufacturing into their own hands.
In addition to accelerating the increase of local chip production capacity, the US has also tried its best to obstruct our development of high-end series chips, cut off the supply of high-end chips, restricted advanced semiconductor equipment, and pulled Japan and the Netherlands to implement export controls.
Under this severe blockade, to their surprise, Huawei's self-developed Kirin suddenly returned. Under their in-depth investigation, it was found that the performance of the Kirin 9000S chip was equivalent to 7nm, and it was also confirmed that it was produced by the mainland industry.
However, recently, the director of export control of the U.S. Department of Commerce said that the U.S. chip sanctions in recent years are effective.
The reason is that he believes that these self-developed chips are worse than those exported a few years ago, and neither the efficiency nor the yield can meet the needs of the market, so the chip restrictions they have implemented are effective, which has slowed down the speed of mainland chips.
Recently, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Raimondo also said that it is unrealistic to obstruct the mainland's development of chips, and the U.S. goal is to slow down their progress, widen the gap between them, and let the U.S. continue to maintain the lead, so that they can continue to win.
It can be seen that the influence of the return of the self-developed Kirin is really great, and even the tone of the American side has begun to change recently.
However, I'm afraid they can't imagine how much we support and tolerate Huawei, I really think we don't know that the Kirin 9000s chip is not as good as the original, even if there are gaps and flaws, we will vigorously support it.
After all, it is our own industrial breakthrough, which has been able to meet our needs, and only by continuing to support can we continue to break through their blockade. Therefore, even if Meixin accelerates and continues to implement restrictions, it will not be able to stop our progress!
