The report surveyed the nutritional literacy of more than 30,000 people, and the results showed that most of the respondents had nutritional literacy, and the awareness rate of nutritional literacy reached 990%, and the attainment rate of the level of nutrition literacy skill area was 771%, the level of nutritional literacy in the cognitive domain is higher than that in the skill domain, and the nutritional health behavior lags behind the cognition and concept. Overall, the nutrition literacy attainment rate was 844%, but the excellent rate is lower at 118%。
In the three dimensions of the nutrition literacy skill domain, the attainment rate of the two skills of food preparation and food intake was 771% and 809%, but the attainment rate of food selection skills is relatively low at 615%。The nutritional literacy level of women was higher than that of men, and the nutritional literacy level of respondents in the older age group, higher education level, and higher economic income respondents was higher, and the nutritional literacy level of normal weight respondents was higher.
After the release of the top ten nutrition hot words of the year, the word "coffee" attracted widespread attention from netizens. Chang Cuiqing, a professor at the Third People's Hospital of Peking University, said that in 2022, China's green coffee consumption will reach 2880,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 143%, as a daily consumption drink, coffee can not only help the human body replenish water and trace elements, but also improve glucose and lipid metabolism, especially in reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Chang Cuiqing also pointed out that drinking coffee should not be excessive, otherwise it is easy to become dependent on caffeine, affect sleep, and may also have a certain impact on bone health. The recommended daily coffee intake is 2-3 cups, and the daily caffeine intake does not exceed 400mg.
It is understood that the Annual Report on Nutritional Literacy of Chinese Residents (2023), released by the China Health Promotion and Education Association and compiled by the Nutrition Literacy Branch of the China Health Promotion and Education Association, is the first authoritative report on residents' nutritional literacy in China, which can provide basic data and technical support for the implementation and evaluation of food and nutrition policies and actions in China, and is of great significance for promoting residents to develop healthy eating behaviors and further improve their nutritional health.
Chen Mengshan, director of the National Food and Nutrition Advisory Committee, said at the meeting that nutrition is an important material basis for human beings to maintain life and ensure health. At present, China is still facing the coexistence of undernutrition and overnutrition, the frequent occurrence of nutrition-related diseases, and the lack of popularization of nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
Tian Jianxin, deputy director of the Department of Food Safety and Monitoring and Evaluation of the National Health Commission, said that nutrition literacy monitoring is a pioneering work, which has important reference significance for discovering the nutritional literacy weaknesses of different groups of people and taking targeted measures.
