Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun Erden and Russian Prime Minister Mishustin held in-depth discussions on bilateral relations and cooperation on the 14th of this month. The talks focused on energy and petroleum product cooperation, especially in response to some difficulties in Russia's energy industry, and the two sides unanimously expressed the need to quickly resolve these issues in order to maintain friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
In October last year, the Mongolian-Russian Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation held a regular meeting. The meeting achieved remarkable results, and the two sides reached specific agreements on such issues as increasing the quota, reducing the imbalance, and strengthening cooperation in various fields. In addition to technological reforms and increased cargo transport capacity, the meeting also touched on the modernization of the Ulaanbaatar Power Plant No. 3 to meet Mongolia's growing energy needs. At the same time, the Russian side agreed to increase the number of Mongolian students studying in Russia and the amount of scholarships, and to strengthen exchanges in the fields of culture, art, and sports.
Mongolian-Russian regional and border cooperation plays an important role in the development of the two countries, with nearly 70% of bilateral exchanges and more than half of people-to-people exchanges and people-to-people relations taking place in this region. In order to promote development, the Subcommittee on Regional and Border Cooperation between Mongolia and Russia, the Committee on Economy, Science and Technology was successfully held in Ulan-Ude on April 5, 2023, and a medium-term plan for the development of Mongolia-Russia regional cooperation was formulated.
Cooperation between the provinces of Mongolia and the subjects of the Russian Federation is becoming more and more active, and a number of regions have signed memorandums of cooperation and look forward to further cooperation in the future. Governor of the Irkutsk region of the Russian Federation Ii.Kobzev and the Republic of Tuva **Vt.Khovar will visit China separately in July to discuss issues such as regional relations, economic relations, and increased people-to-people exchanges. The 25th meeting between Mongolia and Russia** held in Ulaanbaatar at the end of October last year, and the active participation of the heads of state and provincial governors of the border regions showed that the Russian side attaches great importance to this operation.
