Common faults and solutions.

2.1. Common faults.

In this study, the failure data of the Olympus GIF-H290 electronic gastroscope used in hospitals in Southwest China from August 2015 to July 2020 were collected, and the faulty parts were statistically analyzed.

2.2. Common fault handling and prevention.

2.2.1 button malfunction.

The failure rate of the button itself is high, which is mostly caused by the operator's non-standard operation, and the water leakage of the operating part often causes the button to malfunction, so it is recommended to test the leakage before cleaning the endoscope. The fault handling method of the button itself is to replace the button; If the button fails due to water leakage in the operation part, the leakage part should be found and treated, and the water should be dried before use. Standard operation is the key measure to prevent button failure, and the button should be pressed vertically in the center (Fig. 5), and the button should be damaged if the button is pressed incorrectly (Fig. 6).

2.2.2. Suction failure.

The common causes of suction failure are: damage or blockage of the suction button, damage and leakage of the jaw opening valve, and wear of the suction seat. If the suction button or jaw valve is damaged, the button or valve should be replacedIf the suction failure is caused by the blockage of the suction button, the blockage can be solved by removing the blockage; The wear of the suction seat is mostly caused by the wear of the cleaning brush when cleaning the endoscope, and the failure to protect the suction seat when the cleaning brush is withdrawn can easily lead to its wear (Fig. 7), and the standard operation can effectively protect the suction seat from wear. In standard practice, the index finger and middle finger should be placed on the top and bottom of the cleaning brush to protect the suction seat, and the cleaning brush should be withdrawn in the horizontal direction (Figure 8).

2.2.3. Water leakage failure.

Water leakage fault is a common type of failure of electronic gastroscope, and it is also a type of fault with greater damage to the endoscope. Water leakage of gastroscope can easily cause rust of internal components, short circuit of electronic components, breakage of light guide beam, bacterial growth, etc., and serious water leakage will lead to CCD damage and high maintenance costs. Water leakage runs through the use, cleaning, disinfection, and transfer of the gastroscope, and also spreads throughout all parts of the gastroscope.

Bit. Water leakage of the insertion tube, bend and tip is mostly caused by excessive bending, collision, bite and other reasonsThe leakage of the clamp is mostly caused by the non-standard use of accessories; The water leakage of the operation unit is caused by the damage of the remote control button and the size of the knob; The leakage of the light guide hose is mostly caused by too much superposition of the gastroscope and the diameter of the disc < 20cm.

To prevent gastroscope leakage, it is necessary to standardize the use of gastroscope and avoid excessive bending, collision and biteAvoid the attachment from piercing the pliers;Avoid violent use of buttons and knobsAvoid stacking gastroscopes;Avoid gastroscopic disc diameters < 20cm. Leak detection is the key to finding water leakage in gastroscope, therefore, timely leak detection is an indispensable and important step in the daily maintenance of electronic gastroscope. Once a water leak is found, it needs to be repaired in time to avoid greater losses.

2.2.4. The image display is abnormal.

Image display anomalies include no image, image watermark, image flickering, image shadows, image black spots, image dimness, etc. The common reasons for no image are loose monitor cables, leakage of the endoscope, damage to the CCD, etc.;Image watermarks often indicate that the rod of the light guide plug is not sufficiently dried or that the endoscope is leakingImage flickering, shadows, and black spots are often caused by scratches from CCD glass; The dim image may be due to the lack of brightness of the xenon lamp and the breakage of the light guide.

When the image is abnormal, corresponding measures need to be taken according to the specific situation of the image, such as checking the connecting wire, fully drying the rod of the light guide joint, replacing the xenon lamp if the brightness of the xenon lamp is insufficient, repairing the light guide beam if it is broken or leaking, and replacing the CCD glass if it is damaged. It should be noted that the CCD glass is located at the front end of the gastroscope, which is very prone to collision, and the failure rate and maintenance cost are very high.

Therefore, avoiding apex impact during the process of taking, operating, placing and transporting gastroscopes is the key to prevent apex injury.
