A metal float flowmeter is a variable area flowmeter consisting of a vertical conical tube that expands from the bottom up and a float that moves up and down along the shaft of the cone.
The installation location of the metal float flowmeter has the following requirements:
The metal float flowmeter should be installed on a vertical pipe with the fluid flowing through the flowmeter from the bottom up.
The aperture and straightness of the pipe should be carefully checked before installation to ensure that the metal float flowmeter can be installed in the correct position.
The installation location should avoid installation on curved, branched, tee, and other vertical pipes, as these pipes can have an impact on the flow meter.
In order to facilitate the maintenance and replacement of the flowmeter and the cleaning of the measuring pipeline, the metal pipe float flowmeter installed on the process pipeline should be equipped with a bypass pipe and a bypass valve.
In addition, there are the following specific requirements:
When installed horizontally, the horizontal angle should be better than 2°.
When used for gas measurement, it should be ensured that the pipeline pressure is not less than 5 times the pressure loss of the flowmeter to make the float work stably.
If the medium contains ferromagnetic substances, a magnetic filter should be installed.
Strong electromagnetic field interference should be avoided around the metal float flowmeter.
The wiring must be correct, and the terminal blocks should be carefully checked before wiring to ensure that the wiring is fixed and will not loosen. The cable length must also be appropriate and not too long or too short.
The installation of metal float flow meter must be treated with anti-static treatment. When the temperature and pressure of the metal float flow meter and the fluid inside the pipe are different, static electricity may be generated, which may cause the metal float flow meter to not work properly. To prevent this from happening, an anti-static device or grounding wire can be installed around the metal float flowmeter to ensure that the static electricity is safely discharged on the ground.
