What is the story behind Ji Xiaolan's couplet "One straight through, two doors open"?
There are many famous geniuses in Chinese history who are still talked about today, and they are called"Iron teeth and copper teeth"Ji Xiaolan is one of them.
Ji Xiaolan, formerly known as Ji Yun, the word Xiaolan, a native of Hebei, a minister during the Qianlong period, and a famous writer in the Qing Dynasty.
After his death, Emperor Jiaqing begged him"Venda"in recognition of his wisdom.
Ji Xiaolan was born in the second year of Yongzheng, Yongzheng participated in the children's examination when he was eight years old, and his grades were excellent, and he was nicknamed"Genius"。
In the eighth year of Qianlong, Ji Xiaolan began to participate in various exams of the imperial court, and he passed some exams very well, but there were also several exams that failed because of his mother's jealousy.
In the nineteenth year of Qianlong, Ji Xiaolan finally passed the Jinshi examination and began his career as an official, and at the same time served as the chief editor of the "Siku Quanshu".
The ancients loved couplets, which were regarded as a traditional form of entertainment in China, and Ji Xianlin naturally had a soft spot for this interesting cultural activity.
The literati were more or less proud of their talents and liked to tease their opponents wittily and comically in literary fights, but no one was more talented than the talented ones.
Although Ji Xiaolan is an official of the Ministry of Rites, a scholar, and a prince, this does not prevent him from being talented and talented. Emperor Jiaqing once praised Ji Xiaolan"Sensitive and studious, the article is rewarding officials, and it is impeccable";
Niu Yingzhi of the Qing Dynasty also commented on him:"Ji Wenda Gongyun likes to be witty, so many ministers insult him"。
Obviously, Ji Xiaolan is a suitable talent.
Wen Dao ridiculed others for being talented or talented, but Ji Xiaolan didn't even let go of eunuchs and nuns.
When Ji Xiaolan was paired with the eunuch, the eunuch said in the first sentence"Will solve the three elements in the list", Ji Xiaolan said in the second sentence"The four seasons are summer, autumn and winter"。
From a literary point of view, this poem is not bad, but can Ji Xiaolan write the poem so simply? That's not interesting!
Take a closer look at her verses: The four seasons are only summer, autumn, and winter, and ** there is spring?Ji Xiaolan deliberately provoked the eunuch.
The eunuch was physically disabled, and had no hope of marrying a wife and having children in this life. They can't be used"Sichun"、"Panchun"and other words that describe the love of men and women, and use these words to soak in mockery.
He teased her eunuch for one less"Spring"Word.
Although she doesn't like strangers, Kee even jokes with relatives and friends.
At that time, someone told Ji Xiaolan a joke, no matter who the object was, they would say it"The joke is good, the courtiers are insulted, and relatives and friends are inevitable"。
Ji Xiaolan also told her jokes to her mother-in-law's mother. There is such a story in the Qing Dynasty writer Zhu Yiqing's "Boyi Worries".
One day, Ji Xiaolan went to visit her mother-in-law and told her that her mother-in-law came home the day before, praised her for wearing a new python robe, and wrote a poem to pay tribute to her:
Last night, my mother-in-law was deeply affectionate and looked around her knees at the flowers. Late at night, she wrote another poem while reading, the poem said:'The mother-in-law affectionately looked around her knees at the flower clothes'"。
Her mother-in-law laughed at her mother, and she felt very ashamed and angry.
Ji Xiaolan teased the nun, how did she do it?
We all know that Emperor Qianlong liked to travel in the company of literati and young people, of course, it was more fun without Ji Xiaolan's company. When Qianlong and his party came to the temple, the people in the temple saw him coming, so they asked Ji Xiaolan for a couplet.
Ji Xiaolan didn't apologize, and wrote as soon as she picked up the pen:"One positive and two open"。
After the nuns reacted, they thought it was inappropriate and hurt the purity of Buddhism, so they angrily scolded Ji Xiaolan for being ridiculous. Qianlong also felt that Ji Xiaolan was not good like this, so he scolded Ji Xiaolan and asked her to rewrite, but Ji Xiaolan did not relent, saying that she had not finished writing it and continued to write.
Le Ji Xiaolan added a few words at the end, and then wrote a couplet:"Only once on the West Heaven Road;Open two thousand doors"。By changing the meaning of the couplet completely to match Buddhism, the couplet hanging on the door is complete, removing the awkward fuss and bringing a very meaningful couplet to the monastery.
Although Ji Xiaolan's skin color and these behaviors made her look rude, her talent was beyond doubt.
Qianlong entrusted her to preside over the compilation of the Siku Quanshu, which lasted 13 years and was copied by more than 3,800 people. The first draft was completed in the 47th year of Qianlong, and the entire compilation was completed in the 57th year of Qianlong.
Siku Quanshu is the largest cultural project in ancient China, and it is the culmination of Chinese classical culture, which can be said to have taken a lot of effort from Ji Lao.
The verses chosen by Ji Xiaolan are: One positive and two open! The nun angrily reprimanded Ji Xiaolan: I haven't finished writing yet.
