IT Home reported on December 29 that according to foreign media Chosunbiz, SK hynix recently established a subsidiary called SK Hyna (SK Hynix NAND Development America) in the United States, and recruited a number of experts with "decades of experience" by "digging Intel corners" in order to improve its NAND competitiveness.

Based in San Jose, California, SK HNA is a team of about 30 researchers with the sole goal of "focusing on the development of high-performance NAND technology."

Foreign media mentioned that SK hynix recruited senior chief engineer Richard Pasto from Intel this month, this engineer has 28 years of experience, has previously worked at AMD, Spansion and Cypress Semiconductor, and has dozens of patents in the semiconductor field, including 3D NAND technology.

In addition to Richard Pastor, SK hynix also recruited Rezaul Haque, a storage design expert with 30 years of experience, in June this year, and Erika Shiple, an engineer who has worked in Intel's NAND space for 13 years, in November this year, and these three talents have now become "key department heads" at SK HNA.

Foreign media also claimed that SK hynix plans to use the SK HNA subsidiary to attract more NAND talents, and can create synergies with Solidigm, another subsidiary of SK hynix acquired from Intel, thereby narrowing the gap with rivals such as Samsung Electronics.

According to an earlier report by IT House, SK hynix plans to start HBM4 R&D in 2024 and promote the commercial mass production of CXL memory, and plans to complete customer certification of 96GB and 128GB products in the first half of 2024 and achieve commercialization in the second half of 2024.
