What are the procedures for applying for a trademark in Saudi Arabia?

1. Application stage.

1.Filing an application for trademark registration with the Saudi Trademark Office;

2.After receiving the application documents, the Saudi Trademark Office will accept the application if it meets the requirements and issue a Notice of Acceptance

3.If it meets the requirements after examination, it will be announced in the Trademark Gazette;

4.If no objection is not sustained, a Trademark Registration Certificate will be issued.

5.Within 3 months after receiving the trademark registration certificate, if the trademark is opposed by others through use, the trademark will not be registered, and if no objection is not established, the trademark will be registered.

2. Acceptance. The application for trademark registration is accepted by the Saudi Trademark Office.

In general, within 6 months after the applicant submits the application, the Trademark Office will conduct a preliminary examination and determine whether to accept the application. If the requirements for trademark registration are met, the Trademark Office will issue a notice of acceptance to the applicant;If the trademark registration requirements are not met, the Trademark Office will notify the applicant to file an application for amendment within a time limit. If the applicant does not file an application for amendment within the prescribed time, the application will be deemed abandoned and withdrawn.

3. Review. 1.Before registration, the applicant must conduct a comprehensive examination of the trademark. In all cases, these reviews are free. The preliminary examination and opposition of the trademark are carried out by the authorities. If it does not, the Trademark Office will notify the applicant and request it to make additions or amendments within the designated period;If the registration is successful, the Trademark Office will notify the registration and issue a certificate of registration.

2.Once the trademark is approved, the Trademark Office will provide a notice of retention and the applicant has 3 months to put the trademark into use. If it is not put into use during this period, or if there is no right to apply for renewal of registration, then the trademark will be considered invalid.

3.If the registration fails, it can also be modified within three months. If your trademark is not approved, you can work around this by using and not using it.

4. Announcement. The trademark application needs to be published on the official ** of the Trademark Office for a period of 5 months, starting from the 5th month after the application is received by the Trademark Office, and if no one files an opposition, the trademark will be registered. However, if an opposition is raised, the Trademark Office will require the applicant to reply within the specified time, and if the applicant fails to answer within the specified time, the Trademark Office will notify the applicant in writing that the trademark has been refused.
