(December 8, 2023) -- Casio Computer Co, ltd.Announces the launch of the Shock The Ride virtual attraction, which allows users to experience the durability tests that Casio G-SHOCK series shockproof watches have gone through. Users can experience this virtual journey like an amusement park on VRCHAT, a social virtual reality platform.
In October 2023, Casio opened the G-SHOCK virtual store on VRCHAT to provide metaverse-based content, allowing visitors to experience G-SHOCK customization, as well as the effect of VRCHAT avatars wearing watches made by themselves, etc. The space is designed to be a point of contact between the G-SHOCK brand and new users.
Now, as the second product based on VRCHAT content, Casio will launch G-Shock The Ride, a cycling attraction that provides users with a simulated experience of future G-SHOCK durability tests.
G-Shock The Ride is based on the actual G-SHOCK durability tests conducted at the Hamura R&D Center, the R&D base for G-SHOCK brand watches, but it goes far beyond that, it imagines in a narrative way what these durability tests may take in the future. The attraction invites users to hop on a G-SHOCK watch with their avatar and enjoy a fantastic, transcendental immersive experience that can only be achieved in a virtual reality space, as if they were stepping onto an amusement park ride. In addition to the game-like fun that G-Shock The Ride brings, the attraction offers space to express G-SHOCK's realistic worldview based on reality, as well as the rigorous durability tests that the brand conducts to ensure the unmatched robustness of its watches.
