On December 12, the 3rd Micro Short Drama Creation and Sharing Conference hosted by the Capital Radio and Television Program Production Industry Association was held in Beijing. In 2022, the concept of "Short Drama Day" was proposed and implemented for the first time during the Beijing TV Drama Festival. This year, during the Spring Promotion Conference, the concept of short drama day activities was continued to evolve, and the "Searching for Sand and Gold" micro-short drama forum and short drama roadshow activities were implemented, which caused great repercussions in the industry. After a lapse of 8 months, the 3rd Micro Short Drama Creation and Sharing Conference was successfully landed, which is also the official upgrade of the Short Drama Day activity, with more than 100 short drama creators, experts, scholars and representatives attending the event and carrying out in-depth exchanges.
At present, micro-short dramas are still in a period of rapid development, and the production of micro-short dramas on the whole platform is abundant. Not only that, the overall production of head content has been upgraded, and IP adaptation** has become more and more abundant. In this context, the micro-short drama forum with the theme of "Drama Dominates the Galaxy - How to Establish New Coordinates for Improving the Quality and Quality of Micro-short Dramas" provides opportunities for industry practitioners, so that creators, experts and scholars can jointly develop the development trend of the industry and share the experience of high-quality short drama creation.
At the moment of the rapid development of micro-short dramas, Qian Lili, the person in charge of Douyin boutique short dramas, hopes that the Douyin platform will do a good job in basic services, and revealed that the focus of 2024 Douyin short dramas is to encourage high-quality and diversified creation, and actively help more creators to obtain income. Chen Xinjie, director of copyright operations of Seven Cats, believes that online texts can use a very low cost of trial and error to discover novel stories and user trend elements to promote the transformation of micro-short dramas. Director Du Tingjun believes that it is necessary to focus on doing a good job of content and making differentiated scarce content, and the era when content is king is more friendly to creators;Chen Tengyue, the founder and producer of Century Star-Lord Film and Television, started from the serialized development of micro-short dramas, and proposed that serial development should focus on balancing the relationship between conservatism and innovation.
Liu Shuo, associate professor of directing at the School of Drama, Film and Television of Communication University of China, released the "2023 Micro Short Drama Industry Report" on the spot, which allows practitioners to more intuitively understand the development status, market changes and communication effects of micro short dramas, such as the ceiling of a single micro short drama is raised to 20 million+, and the script kills IP to "enter" micro short dramas. These data not only provide a basis for creators to make decisions, but also provide creators with new ideas and methods, and bring more thinking to creators.
The 6th Roadshow is also an important part of the Short Drama Creation and Sharing Conference, which provides an opportunity for short drama creators to showcase their short drama projects, attract investment and establish cooperation. A total of 8 projects participated, including "The God of Wealth", "The Great Detective Alliance", "The Man Hidden Under the Skin", "Her Majesty Always Wants to Salted Fish", "My Volunteer Classroom", "The Dumb Prince's Palm", "Shengjing Shuangshu" and "Illumination".
