Changsha Evening News, Changsha, December 20 (Quan** reporter Peng Fang, correspondent Wu Chenghua) Recently, Xiaoxuan (pseudonym), a girl in the third year of junior high school in Yiyang, couldn't keep up all day long, and always felt very tired and didn't want to move. Parents thought it was a sub-health state caused by the pressure of school Xi, and did not take their children to the doctor until the situation became more and more serious, and the pediatric psychiatrist considered Xiaoxuan to be depressed. Today, Chen Xi, deputy chief physician of the Department of Pediatric Psychology of Hunan Provincial Brain Hospital (Hunan Provincial Second People's Hospital), reminded that typical depressive symptoms are depressed mood, slow thinking, and decreased volitional activity. Parents should pay attention to these conditions when their children appear.

Some time ago, we noticed that our daughter was lying down most of the time at home, unwilling to move, and we thought that the pressure of Xi in the third year of junior high school and the cold weather did not interfere with her too much. Xiaoxuan's mother said that later the teacher reported that the child often slept on the table at school, could not listen to class, and did not communicate with classmates after class, and his grades declined significantly. The parents asked patiently, but Xiaoxuan only said "I don't want to move, I don't have energy, and I don't even want to go to school."

So, the parents took Xiaoxuan to the Department of Pediatric Psychology of Hunan Provincial Brain Hospital (Hunan Provincial Second People's Hospital). According to Xiaoxuan and the parents' description, after relevant examinations, the doctor considered the child's "lack of energy and lack of movement" as a depressive state.

Chen Xi introduced that typical depressive symptoms can be summarized by "three lows":

Down in the dumps. Self-aware or observable low mood, feeling that the pain is difficult to get through, being in a low mood most of the day, not feeling happy and happy.

Slowness of thinking. Slow response, difficulty in thinking about problems, decreased decision-making ability, decreased speech, slower speech speed, lower volume, and in severe cases, difficulty in responding and communicating.

Decreased volitional activity (decreased movement). Voluntary activity is significantly reduced, slow action, lack of enthusiasm, particularly lazy, severe cases may be bedridden all day, need to be urged by others to take care of themselves, and are unwilling to contact and interact with people around them.

For children in a depressed state, Chen Xi gives some advice to families:

1.Appropriately reduce the expectations and requirements for children's academics, understand that children have difficulties in learning Xi, and encourage children to do some Xi within their ability, such as reading simple in-class knowledge or favorite extracurricular books, and completing relatively simple homework content.

2.Enrich your child's life and encourage him to engage in activities that he or she is interested in, such as hobbies, simple chores, Lego, handicrafts, painting, etc., according to his or her personality and wishes.

3.It is recommended that children maintain moderate exercise. In winter, you can add some indoor exercises, such as yoga, dancing, gymnastics, playing ball, climbing stairs, walking, etc., according to the child's physical condition, gradually transition from light exercise to moderate exercise intensity, and gradually stabilize from short exercise to half an hour to an hour each exercise.

4.Moderately increase the frequency of parent-child communication, parents encourage and affirm their children, carry out parent-child interaction activities, such as dinners, outings, mountain climbing, etc., you can also discover and explore your child's interests and hobbies first, and accompany your child to do something that interests him.

5.Parents should pay attention to their children's related symptoms, observe the changes in their children's symptoms in time, and if it affects life and Xi, it is recommended to seek medical attention as soon as possible and follow the doctor's advice**. Early detection and early intervention, and respond with a positive attitude.

Through the doctor's health education, Xiaoxuan's parents attached great importance to their daughter's problems, adjusted their lifestyle according to the doctor's advice, and took their daughter to actively participate in a series of interventions such as medicine, psychology, and traditional Chinese medicine. Xiaoxuan's symptoms are slowly improving.
