Recently, the Israeli Elbit Systems *** with the Romanian company CN Romarm Sa.A landmark cooperation agreement has been signed at the Moreni Motor Machinery Plant (UAM), a subsidiary of Moreni. The agreement aims to create a Romanian artillery center involving other local companies, aimed at strengthening the industrial base of Romania, creating jobs, and laying the foundation for independent artillery production in the country. Under the agreement, Israeli Elbit Systems will provide its expertise in the production of 155-mm ATMOS advanced self-propelled howitzers, including the transfer of significant manufacturing know-how to Romanian companies Romarm and UAM. The latter will play an important role as a system integrator, handling more than half of the total workload. In addition, Moreni will be a key supporter and maintainer of these advanced howitzers. 
The partnership agreement is not limited to Elbit Systems and Romarm, they also plan to have other Romanian companies join the Center of Excellence. This strategic initiative aims to strengthen Romania's role in the global defense industry, promote technological progress and contribute to regional stability. For the artillery forces of the Romanian Army, this cooperation agreement is undoubtedly a major benefit. At present, the Romanian Army is mainly armed with old 76mm howitzers and 100mm anti-tank guns, and the ATMOS vehicle-mounted howitzer, as an advanced 155mm howitzer system, will provide stronger and more modern fire support for the Romanian Army. 
The ATMOS vehicle-mounted howitzer is a very successful 155-mm howitzer system developed by the Israeli company Elbit. It adopts a universal and modular design, and can be combined into different versions of the artillery system according to customer needs using different lengths of barrels and different chassis. The ATMOS155 52 gun uses a NATO standard modular charge and kit and has a range of more than 40 km when firing long-range full-bore bottom-discharge shells (ERFB-BB). It also has a highly automated and semi-automated reloading system, fast conversion capabilities and a high burst rate of fire, which allows it to inflict enormous pressure on enemy targets in a short time.
