Warm Winter Good Thing Award
Let's talk about the Huawei MateBook X Pro – arguably one of the best laptops of the year, with a striking visual design, impressive usability and performance of an ultrabook, and a touchpad.
In terms of the all-around experience, nothing comes close to this powerful portable product.
A gorgeous matte finish of inky blue, the right shade of your favorite color, doesn't look too bright, and it's basically not black. Even better, such a smooth CNC milled magnesium alloy, plus a soft-touch coating. It is resistant to abrasion, fingerprints, and has an excellent tactile feel.
14.2-inch LTPS display with a productivity-friendly 3:2 aspect ratio and 2K resolution. The colors are impressive, the contrast combined with HDR gives each ** a depth unheard of in LCD technology, and everything feels buttery at a 90Hz refresh rate.
Considering it's an ultrabook, you get a fairly limited array of ports. But they quickly faded into obscurity, as there were two key reasons why the MateBook X Pro's user experience far surpassed that of any Windows machine I've ever used.
When it comes to good keyboards and touchpads, my favorite has always been the 14-inch MacBook Pro ......Until I picked up the Huawei MateBook X Pro, 1The chocolate keyboard with 5mm travel has a great design that's perfect for an energetic typist like me, and not only that, but the keycaps themselves are beautiful and big, making it easy for you to get used to and explore.
Huge touchpad – bigger than the MacBook Air's touchpad. The multi-touch gestures and smooth surfaces are good, while the haptic motors in the solid-state structure provide a satisfying touch for every click.
It's almost similar to Apple in terms of user-friendliness and far surpasses every Windows laptop I've used in the field.
Currently, the MateBook X Pro comes with an Intel Core i7-1370P, 16GB LPDDR5, and a 1TB SSD. It has a slight boost in specs compared to last year's model, but it does bring an impressive upgrade compared to the M2 MacBook Air. Of course, it can't compete with the M3 model, but that's not what this machine was designed for.
Instead, it's better suited for all the basic tasks while handling some of the more intensive tasks with relative ease. The X Pro does it all with ease.
