On the evening of 31 December, Victoria Harbour will stage the largest fireworks display in the history of Hong Kong's New Year's Eve countdown**.
According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, in this year's "New Year's Eve Countdown" fireworks display**, fireworks will be set off from Central to Causeway Bay, with five barges setting off fireworks at the same time, taking residents and tourists through winter, spring, summer and autumn in tune with the four seasons. When the giant countdown clock on the façade of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre counts down to midnight, a newly choreographed sonata will be played, kicking off the show.
From 11 p.m. on 31 December, the rooftops of the three landmark buildings on Hong Kong Island will also be lit up every 15 minutes to symbolise sweetness, health, happiness and abundance, accompanying residents and visitors to make their wishes for the new year. The fireworks display** will be broadcast live via local free-to-air television, the HKTB** and social media platforms. In order to facilitate the public to go out to celebrate, the MTR will run overnight on the 31st, and some routes of trams, buses and green minibuses will be extended. Road closures and diversions will be implemented in phases starting from 12 o'clock on the 31st. The areas around Tsim Sha Tsui and the West Kowloon Cultural District will be closed and rerouted in phases from about 6 p.m. on the 31st.
In addition, the reporter also noted that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ** recently announced that the "Local Characteristic Tourism Incentive Scheme" will accept applications from eligible travel ** merchants from January 1, 2024, and the plan is divided into two parts: in-depth tourism and special theme tourism, and the application period for the in-depth tourism part is from January 1 to July 31, 2024. Each eligible travel** merchant can apply for an incentive of HK$200 for each in-depth travel participant it receives.
