Jordan Pickford's behaviour after the Newcastle brawl was labelled 'cringe'.
By the time the final whistle blew, tensions boiled.
Jordan Pickford has been described by some fans as "cringe" for his behaviour following Everton's win over Newcastle.
The Toffees rescued themselves from the relegation zone with a 3-0 win over the Northeast at Goodison Park.
It was the first time they were outside the bottom of the table, as the club was deducted 10 points from the Premier League for breaching financial rules.
Emotions were high throughout the match and several Newcastle players appeared to have a disagreement with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as celebrations erupted between fans and players.
They rushed at the England international, apparently angry at him for some reason. Eventually, Newcastle midfielder Joelinton had to be taken away by security, while Jordan Pickford threw his gloves on the ground and had to be stopped by his team-mates.
When the 29-year-old – a childhood Sunderland fan who started his career at the club – walked out of the pitch, he couldn't resist the parting sarcasm of the away fans.
With a big smile on his face, the goalkeeper walked towards the away side and then walked down the tunnel.
Everton later shared a snippet of the moment on their social channels.
However, Pickford's behaviour has not been recognised by some, who have labelled him "cringe".
Someone commented: "Oh my God.
Another said, "Don't **."
The third wrote: "What is he doing?".Super cringe.
But Everton fans couldn't get enough of it, with one person writing: "Looks like this night could have been better!".
The second person simply said: "Legendary", while the other commented "I love you, lad."
Someone else joked: "You can take the boy out of Sunderland, but you can't take Sunderland out of the boy."
