Mr. Xu Jiefu is a celebrity in Jiujiang City, and soon after the founding of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Xu became the deputy mayor of Jiujiang City. In the last century, older citizens knew that there was a mayor Xu Jiefu in Jiujiang, and Mr. Xu was classified as a rightist in mid-1957, and the deputy mayor was dismissed. During the "Cultural Revolution", a letter of appointment to the deputy mayor of Jiujiang City, signed by the prime minister, was copied when his home was raided.

In 1968, I was assigned to Maoshantou Reclamation Farm (called Xiangyang Reclamation Farm that year) from the "four aspects" of the school. In winter, at the construction site of the winter water conservancy and flood control embankment in Maoshantou, I saw Mr. Xu and the "cow ghosts, snake gods" who were pulled out, hanging small signs such as reactionary elements, and being supervised to pick up soil.

In the early 70s, Mr. Xu came to Xiangyang Agricultural Machinery Factory from Wuning County and became the leader of the factory, perhaps appointed as the director of the Revolutionary Committee, or the deputy director, we all called Mr. Xu Director Xu.

I have been working as a lathe worker in the production line, first making stereotyped products, making valves, car valve bodies, making rice mills, and turning rice bucket cores. During the New Year's holidays, occasionally the factory department is responsible for propaganda and is called to run a wall newspaper.

One day, Mr. Xu wrote a note asking me to go to the power engine factory to find the secretary of the factory and borrow an oxygen cylinder and a milling cutter for processing gears. I was at that time.

Two. Ten. At the age of two or three, he had no experience in dealing with outsiders, and he was nervous that he would not be able to complete this task.

I handed Mr. Xu's note, and the people in the department also stretched out their heads to look at the note, and there was a "dog-headed military division" on the side and said to the secretary that these equipment could not be borrowed, and there was no return if it was lent. The person next to him said this, and the secretary had no choice but to give up. The oxygen cylinder was not borrowed, so I had to go to the water pump factory and find a relative in the factory to buy one.

I still don't understand why Mr. Xu asked me, a front-line worker, to run an outsourcing temporary contractor, because there were special procurement and outsourcing personnel in the factory at that time.

At the end of 1974, Mr. Xu led a team to organize the directors and relevant personnel of various workshops to visit and Xi Fuzhou Valve Factory, and I did not understand the purpose of my visit.

Fuzhou Gushan photo, the back center is Mr. Xu, and the second from the right is the author.

In the middle of winter, starting from Jiujiang, Mr. Xu wore an inner sheepskin coat and transferred to Nanchang, Huang Kehua (nicknamed Huang Yushi) wanted to buy a sleeper ticket for Mr. Xu, but Mr. Xu refused, and we stayed in the seat car for a night with more than a dozen of us, and arrived in Fuzhou early the next morning.

I had close contact with Mr. Xu and asked Mr. Xu how old he was, and Mr. Xu said that he was 53 this year. I calculated in my heart that in 1957, Mr. Xu was only 36 years old when he was right-winged. When he was deputy mayor, he was even younger. On the way, Mr. Xu talked about the past, on the eve of liberation, he had contact with the underground party of the Communist Party of China, and on the surface, like high-ranking officials and nobles, he packed his luggage and prepared to flee south to cover people's eyes. In fact, he secretly protected Jiujiang Yinglu Electric Company to welcome the liberation.

The factory should carry out technical education for young workers, and it is necessary to print and distribute what technicians should know and know. I don't know who came up with the idea, so I was pumped to engrave a wax paper steel plate. The engraved steel version is still a leaflet of the "Cultural Revolution" in school in 67 years, engraved a lot, I have not held an iron pen for many years, my hands are stiff, and the engraving is relatively slow, and the factory office did not arrange a seat for me to engrave, so I had to go to my home to engrave. Z in the office seemed to say that I was derelict in my duties and hid at home to do housework, and I was angry and expressed my dissatisfaction in front of Mr. Xu. Mr. Xu said that it turned out that ** someone, how well he wrote. I understood that Mr. Xu was tactfully criticizing me, thinking that I thought I was well-written and had a cocked tail. In fact, how could I not know that the sky is high and the earth is thick, there are mountains outside the mountains, and there are so many capable people. I have emotions, and I just think that carving steel plates is not my job as a worker.

My brother was admitted to Tsinghua University in 1952, studied mechanical manufacturing for five years, and on the eve Xi of graduation, he was classified as a rightist, and after graduation, he was assigned to the Beijing People's Machinery Factory for labor reform. In 1970, he was transferred back to Jiujiang from Beijing and was arranged to work as a technician in Jiujiang Machinery Factory (later changed to Forging Machine Tool Factory) of a large collective unit.

I don't know where Mr. Xu knew about my brother, so he invited my brother to the factory for technical guidance. At that time, I wondered if Mr. Xu was a little sympathetic. My brother has an arrogant personality, and he was able to come to the agricultural machinery factory out of respect for Mr. Xu. I have no other mentality for Mr. Xu except respect. Some people in the factory don't respect Mr. Xu enough, and they scold the capitalists and old rightists behind their backs, and I guess Mr. Xu also knows it. Once, Huang Ping, a knowledgeable youth, broke the ball head of the old worker, the highest-level workshop owner, Lao He went to complain, and Mr. Xu comforted Lao He and said: You should only fall once.

The Xu family is a Jiujiang family, and Mr. Xu Deyan, the former vice chairman of the National People's Congress and a famous alumnus of Jiujiang No. 1 Middle School, is Mr. Xu's father. Mr. Xu's parents died when he was a child, and he grew up eating the Xu family's 100 family meals. Jiujiang Yinglu Electric Company is the family business of Mr. Xu's grandparents, because his descendants went out to study and participate in the revolution, and Mr. Xu, who is in his twenties, became the manager, using this identity as a cover to engage in the revolutionary work of the underground party of the Communist Party of China.

A veteran who had been a soldier for eight years came to the factory, and he didn't know what kind of work he did in the factory office, so he wrote some slogans with a platoon pen and pasted them in the factory office.

Later, Mr. Xu became the director of the Jiujiang Municipal Construction Committee. became the deputy mayor of Jiujiang City again, and he is already the deputy deputy mayor of the prefecture level.

In April 1984, when I came back from a business trip to Nanjing, I walked ashore to Chaoyang Road, and saw the hearse of Mr. Xu's wife, Mr. Pan, and Mr. Xu's son, Mr. Xu Yi, standing on the car with the portrait of Mr. Pan. I knew that Mr. Pan had passed away. A few days later, together with Ye Longyi, an educated youth who also worked in the agricultural machinery factory, I went to Mr. Xu's dormitory in the construction committee and visited Mr. Xu. After that, I never stepped on the threshold of Mr. Xu's house again. Occasionally, Mr. Xu greeted him on the street and in the bookstore.

The news of Mr. Xu's death was only learned from the obituary at the gate of the compound of the old bank office: Comrade Xu Jiefu, a member of the Communist Party of China, former deputy mayor of Jiujiang City, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and chairman of the Democratic League, died unfortunately due to ineffective medical treatment. He was 86 years old.

Mr. Xu's party membership, I don't know if it was the party of reform and opening up, or the underground party before the founding of the People's Republic of China. It turns out that some members of the democratic parties have the status of party members, but they only keep them secret from the outside world.

I would like to commemorate Mr. Xu with this article.
