In the colorful life of later life, tourism was the first choice of our Uncle Li and his wife. However, after a lot of travel, we began to think: the world is so big, do we really need to be there everywhere?Perhaps, the beauty of life in old age does not only exist between mountains and rivers, but lies in a variety of interests and hobbies.
I'm Uncle Li, 62 years old, and my wife and I are both middle school teachers. When I was young, I was busy with work, and I couldn't get rid of all kinds of training and medical worries during winter and summer vacations. It wasn't until we retired that we had the time and money to spare, so we didn't hesitate to travel. However, the experience of the trip made us start to wonder: is it really not suitable to travel when we are old?
At the beginning, we were full of longing for tourism, joined a tour group, and followed the guide to explore the great rivers and mountains of the motherland. The excitement of the first time was intoxicating, and I laughed all the way, as if I had returned to the rushing years of my youth. My wife is even more energetic when she was young, as if she has become a new self, which makes me feel how wise it is to choose travel.
However, as the number of trips increases, we gradually feel that the novelty of travel disappears and is replaced by a sense of powerlessness. First of all, the itinerary is too tight, and the tour guide makes it impossible for people to really enjoy the scenery, so they can only hurriedly take pictures and send them to the circle of friends to show off. On holidays, it is even more crowded, and the scenery is difficult to see, which makes people feel very helpless.
Moreover, the consumption in tourism also makes us complain. The tour guide always took us to various shops and said that it was a specialty of the attraction but strongly persuaded us to buy it. Again and again, the impulse consumption makes us start to reflect on whether this kind of tourism is really worth it. Sometimes, we may even encounter poor accommodation conditions, which affects the quality of our rest and even endangers the health of our spouses.
During the trip, my wife accidentally tired my heart, which made me deeply feel the great toss of travel. After the age of 60, the decline in physical strength and energy makes people feel unable to keep up with the pace of travel, and the occurrence of accidents makes us realize the risk of the elderly playing outside.
Looking back, my friends around me found more interesting ways in their later lives. Some raise flowers and sing, some participate in interest classes, and some even set up a model team to make a contribution to local public welfare. In contrast, these activities seem to be more meaningful and more suitable for later life.
Through my own personal experience, I want to tell my peers that it is really not appropriate to toss too much when you are old. Neither physical strength nor energy can adapt to the high-intensity consumption of tourism. If you really want to relax, you may choose to take a small trip near home, which is safer and more controllable. And more importantly, cultivating a hobby and enjoying a quiet old age may be the real wisdom to do.
The world is so big, and life in old age is more colorful, and choosing the way that suits you is the wisest decision. In the comment area, everyone is welcome to share their views and experiences, and discuss the pros and cons of traveling in later years.
