He died in 1950 at the age of 36.

In 1939, 25-year-old Ding Qiuqiu, with a strong desire to drive the Japanese out of China, enthusiastically joined the 97th Regiment of the National Revolutionary Army and went to the front line of resistance against Japan. Zhang Fuzhen, the head of the regiment, secretly joined the Communist Party of China in 1938, and in 1945, he led his troops to revolt in Luoning, Henan, and sent a telegram of condolences and appointed him as the commander of the 17th Division of the 38th Army of the Northwest Democratic Alliance. Since then, Ding Qiuqiu has become a glorious soldier of the People's Liberation Army and participated in the great Chinese People's Liberation War.

Ding Qiuqiu was awarded the silver medal certificate of "Special First Place Work Model" In many battles, Ding Qiuqiu did his best for the revolutionary work in his post, cooked meals for the soldiers, braved the rain of bullets and bullets to deliver the meals to the battlefield on time, let the soldiers eat, and provided a solid material guarantee for the soldiers to fight a good battle. In 1947, Ding Qiuqiu's unit "Advance Daily" published his exemplary deeds, and from January 1947 to January, the main force of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Field Army of the People's Liberation Army and the troops of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Military Region carried out a strategic operation against the Kuomintang army in the northern region of Henan Province. The campaign lasted two months, annihilated a total of 40,950 Kuomintang troops, including 26,100 captured and 14,850 killed or wounded, and occupied an area 150 kilometers long from north to south and more than 100 kilometers wide from east to west. At the post-war appraisal meeting, Zhang Fuzhen, commander of the 17th Division, Liang Lisheng, political commissar, and Zhang Xiding, director of the Political Department, signed a report of meritorious service on 20 June 1947, congratulating Ding Qiuqiu's relatives on his merits.

In the Northern Henan Campaign, Ding Qiuqiu insisted on working despite illness and played a leading role in ensuring that the soldiers defeated the enemy with full fighting spirit, won the battle, and was rated as a first-class meritorious service. On 26 June 1947, Chen Jiamou, commander of his unit, Liu Ruhe, political commissar, Chen Guangshun, deputy commander, Qin Feng, deputy political commissar, and Li Yunguan, deputy director of his unit, signed a list of meritorious service, praising Ding Qiuqiu for "being loyal to the people's cause and making immortal contributions," and hoped that "all comrades would Xi learn from him and strive for meritorious service to everyone."

Zhang Fuzhen, commander of the 17th Division, Liang Lisheng, political commissar, and Zhang Xiding, political director, signed the people's meritorious service certificate on 31 January 1947: "Comrade Ding Qiuqiu, the leader of the cooking squad of the 9th Company of the 50th Regiment of the 17th Division, personally delivered food to the position 30 miles away from Huixian County during the march of the Northern Henan Campaign on the 8th of the month, and carried rice to the position to cook on the second day. In November 1947, the 12th Brigade of the Fourth Column of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan People's Liberation Army and the 17th Division of the 38th Army of the Northwest Democratic Alliance Army opened up a base area in southern Shaanxi with the army of Chen (Geng) and Xie (Fuzhi). In 1949, the ** Military Commission ordered the newly formed 19th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the 17th Division of the 38th Army of the Northwest Democratic Alliance Army was reassigned to the 57th Division of the 19th Army, and Zhang Fuzhen was appointed commander of the 57th Division and commander of the Hanzhong Army Subdistrict. On 10 July, the 19th Army fought valiantly in the battle of Guanyazi in southern Shaanxi, and in response to the Battle of Fumei, it broke the defensive line of the Kuomintang divisions and smashed the attempt of southern Huzong to stop the PLA from advancing westward. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Ding Qiuqiu's eye injury was not completely treated due to selfless work during the war years, and his illness became ill day by day. He repeatedly asked the head of the military region to go home for medical treatment, and in 1950, with the approval of the head of the southern Shaanxi Military Region, he returned to his hometown. However, after returning to his hometown, his condition continued to deteriorate, and the medical treatment was ineffective, and he died in the same year.

Comrade Ding Qiuqiu fought all his life, revolutionized for 11 years, and struggled for ideals and beliefs for 11 years.
