When Wan Jieni, a young pianist born in the 95s, decided to transform from a pianist to an artistic director, her world opened up a different dimension. "The festival is not only a feast, but also a platform for cultural exchange. As the artistic director of the Hainan Island International Festival, Wan Jieni wants to integrate the trend art with the local humanities and marine landscape characteristics of Haikou through the dialogue form of **, culture and art, so as to show the freedom and unbounded. Breaking through the comfort zone and "breaking the rules" to move forward to different fields again and again is the way Wan Jieni continues to explore the world, and it is the reason why she can always move forward in different fields.
Wan Jieyi
He is a famous young pianist and the artistic director of the Hainan Island International Festival. He graduated from Yale University, Munich University of Theatre and Theatre, and State Academy of Trosingen. He is currently a full-time lecturer at the State ** College of Trosingen and a visiting professor at ** University of Zhejiang. She has been active on the top stage at home and abroad for a long time, and has worked closely with first-class orchestras at home and abroad. In the field of social activities, Wan Jieni was awarded the title of Gen. in 2021t In 2022, he was awarded the honor of "International Outstanding Pianist" and "Most Internationally Influential Sino-Western Cultural Exchange Ambassador" by the Global Diplomat's Chinese Culture Night. She also strives to seek more diverse forms of artistic cooperation, and the cross-border performances of new ** and art have received wide attention from the industry and music fans.
Always spread the art you love
Today, Wan Jieni has made remarkable achievements on the road to the first place. At the age of 15, she was admitted to the University of Munich and Drama with the first place in her majorAt the age of 20, he collaborated as a soloist with the world-renowned conductors Zubin Mehta and Christopher Eisen**At the age of 23, he has performed with more than 30 famous symphony orchestras at home and abroad......Constantly breaking through oneself and trying different fields related to ** has always been something that Wan Jieni wants to challenge. As a result, the Hainan Island International Festival became Wan Jieni's first attempt to transform from a pianist to an artistic director.
From December 10th to 24th, 2023, the Hainan Island International ** Festival will officially meet with you. Artistic director Wan Jieni wants to build a free, mutual assistance and equal art platform for classical, pop, jazz and other people through Haikou, an international, inclusive and open window. This festival invited outstanding artists and artists from all over the world to perform major classic repertoire, so that people can feel the charm and style of the world. At the same time, Wan Jieni also hopes that through the platform of the first festival, people can better understand the unique style of Haikou.
Referring to the reason why this ** festival landed on Hainan Island, Wan Jieni said happily: "It is very romantic to enjoy the classical ** by the sea. She added, "Haikou is blessed with unique natural landscapes such as coconut groves, beaches and the sea, and Hainan Island is a famous international free port and tourist resort." Whenever I run along the sunrise under the Century Bridge in Haikou, I always think of the classic melodies of Beethoven, Brahms, Rachmaninov and other classical ** masters. In fact, as early as three years ago, the ** festival project was born in Wan Jieyi's mind, "* is a language, and this language is the only emotional exchange in the world that all human beings communicate regardless of ethnicity, gender, and race." When it comes to the emotional communication role of **, Wan Jieni said. She hopes to summon the "migratory birds" of the same frequency with **, so that everyone can experience the charm of ** in this beautiful city. "I used to participate in international festivals abroad, and I would regularly go to various festivals every year, such as the Salzburg Festival in Austria, the Bregenz Festival in Austria, the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland, etc., all of which are classical festivals combined with the local natural scenery, all concentrated in summer. Hainan belongs to the low-latitude tropical monsoon climate, the temperature is pleasant in all seasons, and there are many friends from the extremely cold areas in the north who will come to Hainan every winter to be a 'migratory bird', so we will hold the Hainan Island International ** Festival in the winter of the northern hemisphere, in December!”
It is worth mentioning that this ** section repeatedly emphasizes the concept of "youth".Wan Jieni said: "Classical performances with a sense of history are our humanistic background, and we can see the 'younger' figure in many ** projects of the ** festival under the premise of sticking to the classics." Many classical performers also hope to do some "big hands holding small hands" actions at the festival. For example, in our first week of ** performances,The famous violinist Lu Siqing has been invited, and he will lead the young artists of the Meijie Youth Orchestra to perform two groups of 'Four Seasons' works with completely different styles - Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" and Piazzolla's "Four Seasons of Buenos Aires", which is also very meaningful in the choice of works that collide with classics and innovations.
During the preparation of this festival, through cooperation with different people, Wan Jieni has a better understanding of the importance of teamwork, pays more attention to details and grasps the overall situation, and has a deeper understanding of the operation rules and laws of the industry. At the same time, she has also made her future career development direction clearer - that is, to become a good pianist and never give up on her beloved piano, but also to become an excellent artistic director, so that the art she loves can be passed on to more people's hearts.

A-Wan Jieyi.
qYou have been "cultivating" in the piano industry for many years, but being the artistic director of the ** festival is a newcomer, what kind of challenges does the transformation of the two identities have for you?
aAs a performer, I have to deal with the work and the audience, and I am in a relatively free and self-conscious state. But as the festival director, I need to plan and manage a large-scale event, including arranging performances, publicity, venue rental, personnel deployment, budget control and other aspects. I have a lot of work to do under tight deadlines, and I have to make sure that all the details are taken care of and that I can work effectively with my teammates. This is a test of my time management skills and organizational skills. The role of festival director is indeed a big challenge for me.
qIn the process of preparation, what are the insights and inspirations?
aThis role change made me once again re-examine the ** industry I am engaged in, and I personally experienced that in every big and small performance, the behind-the-scenes staff work is not easy. Because of their dedication and hard work, we have achieved the wonderful performance we saw in front of the stage. This also reminds me from another perspective that I should cherish every opportunity to perform, which represents the joint dedication of many staff around me day and night, without regrets and perseverance.
qCan you share with us the highlights of this ** festival?
aThere are many highlights of this festival, and we have also created a lot of new ways to play for Haikou. For the first opening ceremony in the course of the festival, we have put a lot of effort into it. He is currently the director of the New York Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. As the head of a world-class professional orchestra, Jaap van Zweden has led orchestras across Europe, North America, and Asia, so from his own point of view, he is an eclectic messenger who uses classical language in contemporary times, walks in various cultures around the world, and is eclectic.
qI understand that you are also the initiator of the "Green Coconut Sound Support" program, can you tell us about this program?
aYes, this year's ** Festival, I also launched the "Green Coconut Sound Fu" program at the same time. Classical performers are well aware that artistic ideals, skills, and artistic practice abilities all need the stage as an "incubator", and that art, like science, produces true knowledge through practice. It is only in practice that the true direction of art can be explored. I hope that through the "Green Coconut Sound Support" program, people who have dreams and have been chasing their ideals will have a stage to practice, and I hope that they will grow together with the young brand of "Hainan Island International Festival".
